Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Bowman.
Hi Rose, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I started working at a radio station in St. John’s Downtown church called Amazing 102.5 Fm. I worked for little pay weekly as a writer on their social media page. It fueled my passion for writing. Radio, tv, and film. I was able to find photos on the internet about daily celebrity life, fashion, music, film and radio, and trends and write about it on their social media page. We even covered local government, which was one of my favorite aspects. Anyway, I kept learning new skills to the point where I said you know what I don’t have the setup I want yet, but I want my own media platform. So, I started Rose Way Media. A non-profit media company covering local businesses, local government, music, film, tv, independent artist, etc. it’s a fun hub to find out what’s going on in the city and the world. I started with my iPhone, a portable charger, and my laptop. I can’t wait to expand the way I want. I’m also a nursing student who worked on the public relations board of student government at Nevada state university.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My struggles have been transportation, not having a team, and or enough equipment, I’ve had to turn down some gigs due to these things, but as I grow and learn, I’ll have all the things I need. I also think being confident in my brand has been a struggle, but I persevere and just mown it wherever I am in my brand I 10000 percent own it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am most proud of receiving a recognition award from the city of Houston representative Sheila Jackson Lee for honorary exemplary work in the community. My two features with T.Jones and DJ TIP TOE out of Las Vegas, Nevada, and my volunteer community and work with non-profits and government agencies.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
To own up to who you are and where you are and not trying to fit in a category or a timeframe of everyone else.
