Rising Stars: Meet Ryan Mundt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Mundt.

Hi Ryan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My best friend (Dane Myers) and myself have grown up in sports our whole life and played football together in high school. We both went on to play sports at the college level, and Dane is still pursuing baseball, currently playing for Miami’s minor league team. Throughout our careers, we both had coaches & mentors that drastically affected us in both positive and negative ways that influenced our view on how important the leaders around you really are.

With EZ Going, our goal is to put impactful people in front of kids and young adults that can show them the right way. The only way to get where you want in life is hard work, but so many people are working hard yet struggle to find success. That is because there is a way to train and study that is efficient, and that is what we hope to teach. We want you to be so prepared that the anxiety and stress lessen and allow whatever you are putting your efforts towards to feel a little more EZ Going. More preparation equals less panic when you are put in game time / hard life situations.

Currently, we give baseball lessons and sell custom apparel to work or live in style. Our end goal is a turnkey baseball training facility that will offer baseball lessons, tutoring, and physical rehabilitation for athletes. 10 % of all apparel profits go towards free youth baseball summer camps, and the rest goes back into hopefully getting a facility down the road after Dane’s playing career.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It is never a smooth road. Dane can attest to that with baseball and pursuing the next level. There will always be ups and downs. Being a new company, right now the biggest struggle we are facing is just getting the brand in front of as much people as possible along with our end goal and message. I don’t want people to think this is just another shirt brand because that is the smallest part of what we hope to do down the line. We currently have some clothes out right now that represent the brand name, but here soon, we will have new designs that hopefully grab the attention of people and help us take a step towards our next phase.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am currently a construction project manager here in Houston, but starting this brand has allowed me to get back in touch with what I truly love, and that is the sports atmosphere and drawing. I played 3 sports year-round from 6 – 18, and that was all I ever cared about. I wanted to compete every day, and now I take that mentality into the work world and hopefully can use it to drive the brand to success for Dane, myself, and others.

I also have always loved sketching, so being able to design apparel for us is allowing me to get back to that and challenge my mind to learn new things such as graphic design.

I don’t think anything really sets me apart from others, as there are so many different paths out there and so many capable people that also work hard. But what makes me unique to myself is my mind and pursuit for meaning. I want to get the most out of this life, and so with that, I am trying to find something I can live off of and be happy with life.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was a very shy kid that just loved to play sports. All I wanted to do was be outside and play any sport all day. I dabbled in other things like the piano and art, but in the end, those things always faded because all I wanted to do was compete in sports.
