Today we’d like to introduce you to Samuel Jackson.
Samuel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started making music because I noticed a need; it was need for a voice of purpose. Somebody that was really saying something but not only spreading a real message, spreading that message in a way that can be felt by all people.
Music caught my attention early on; I remember how I felt the first time I sung in front of my church. It was a good type of nervous feeling and seeing people’s face glow up from the sound of my voice and from what I was saying; that’s partly what I make music for now.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely not; I believe in any pursuit, your loyalty will be tested. There’s no way to prevent the trials. The hardest struggle in my pursuit has been my own mind, letting fear or doubt dictate decisions instead of passion.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an artist, producer, songwriter, director, and designer. I believe my specialty is my articulation and storytelling ability paired with my natural-born musical talent. I express my creativity in everything I do from my clothes to my vocabulary. Ironically, I own my own clothing brand that goes hand in hand with my music. I’ve also directed five music videos, three of which set to drop this summer. My favorite genre of music is Rhythm and Blues or “R&B” because I believe I most immulate that genre of music. I’m most proud of my persistence throughout the past two years and being able to put out 25+ tracks independent while still in high school. What sets me apart is my fearlessness to be unapologetically myself no matter the occasion.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
My favorite books are The Bible, The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene, The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin, Creativity Rules by Tina Seeling, The Art of Voice by Tony Hoagland, The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas, and The notebook I write in.
I like you use YouTube to research topics or business ventures I’m interested in.
