Meet Sonya Gaines

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sonya Gaines.

Sonya, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Real Estate has been a staple in my life for many years. My father owned and managed several investment properties for our family, which exposed me to the ins and outs of the business. In 2017, after much deliberation, I made the decision to become a licensed Realtor in the state of Texas and the rest is history! I now serve clients in the Houston metropolitan and surrounding areas. This, by far, has been one of the most exhilarating and rewarding experiences. The ability to build relationships and assist individuals achieve their lifelong dream is a feeling that is unmatched!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not; real estate is a very competitive market with over 30,000 agents in the Houston area alone. Initially, when I began this journey, I thought that I would be selling million-dollar homes from day one. I soon found out that was not the case at all! The hardest thing for me was putting myself out there and letting everyone know what it is I do. My mentor told me to think of myself as a stick of gum. Think about it; either someone agrees to it or they don’t. Once I got over that hurdle, my business has grown tremendously. There have been many prayers and plenty of sleepless nights, but I have persevered!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed Realtor in the state of Texas. In a market as competitive as Real Estate, I am set apart from my colleagues. My results-driven strategies and knowledge of the current market allow me to make your real estate transaction as seamless as possible. It is my goal to communicate, identify individual needs and work diligently on my client’s behalf. I’m people-driven and I thrive on it.

As an up-and-coming agent in the Houston market, I have represented families and individuals alike utilizing my innovative approach and creative thinking skills. It is my goal to remain connected with industry leaders to both learn from and network on my client’s behalf. Whether they are first-time home buyers, purchasing your dream home, selling their current home or looking to invest, my comprehensive services are adaptable to meet everyone’s needs. I am most proud of my personal growth over the last few years. The effort that I have put forth is undeniable and it shows!

As a realtor, my assertiveness, adaptability, attention to detail and willingness to exceed my client’s expectations all set me apart. I enjoy connecting with people. One of my greatest traits is relationship building. It is more than a business transaction, it is about connecting with people on a personal level.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Don’t give up! Even when things didn’t look how I thought they should look, I did not give up. I heard several no’s before I heard yes! The crazy thing is after I heard the first yes, it was non-stop after that! The wait may be long, but it’s definitely worth it!
