Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Gonzalez.
Hi Sophia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my business because I started doing Jiu Jitsu. I started to compete so much that it started to get expensive. A couple of years ago I lived In El Paso and they have a page FitFam that has literally the whole city on it and they reposted and from there is got so many sales it was crazy. After that, I’ve been going to a farmer’s market and I would make 60-80 sugar scrubs and I would come back home with like five. I was the youngest entrepreneur in The upper valley farmer’s market in El Paso. By the way, the best farmer’s market you could go to. I now have them on my Etsy shop RelentlessBeautyCo. As I got older and moved to Houston, my Jiu Jitsu training has been more intense because they have so many competitions. I still try to do a market here and there. I was recently on the kfox26 for an interview so I can go to Pan Am Kids ibjjf the world’s biggest competition for kids. With that interview, I got a couple of orders and I made it to Florida to compete which I am now Pan Ams Featherweight Champion. Without my business and supporters, I couldn’t of made it out there. I’m very thankful for my community.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it’s kind of been a Struggle in Houston it’s so big that they have so many markets and so many people do the same thing it’s hard.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am known as the Jiu Jitsu Girl that sells Sugar Scrubs and Salve. My Sugar Scrubs help me Travel.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in Good luck or Bad Luck. My parents have always told me if I work hard I’ll accomplish my Goals. Good luck would be winning the lottery. I do great when I sell my sugar scrubs because it’s fishing you gotta reel them in.
