Rising Stars: Meet Tenneisha Brown of Houston, TX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tenneisha Brown

Tenneisha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story began when I was eight years old when I left Jamaica. I left behind everything I knew to live with my grandmother in NJ. My mother wanted to give me a better life and opportunity presented itself. However, I didn’t realize I was an immigrant living in America until I turned 18 and my dreams of going away for college was no longer a reality. Through my immigrant journey, it forced me to work harder and it forced me to become resilient. Best of all, it instilled an unbelievable amount of hope and faith within me because despite my circumstances I had to believe I was destined for greatness and things would work out in my favor so I could achieve the “American dream”. Knowing where I came from and having a vision for where and who I want to be has become my fuel for where I am today.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
From leaving everything I knew behind at such a young age, not having the best relationship with my family growing up, and learning how to navigate life on my own- It definitely has not been a smooth road! However, I’m grateful for the journey because it made me super independent and reliant on God. Learning how to navigate life on my own has taught me how to advocate for myself, how to pivot quickly, and how to be solutions oriented. Best of all, a lot of the things I’ve learned throughout this journey has turned into traits which I now as gifts to help others.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I began my real estate career in April and specialize in apartment locating, leasing, helping buyers find their dream homes, and selling properties. Before transitioning into real estate, I spent six years as an educator, which helped me develop a strong passion for providing resources and educating others. This background has allowed me to bring a unique approach to real estate, where I focus on guiding clients through the process, whether it’s buying, selling, or investing in property. One of the things I’m most proud of is stepping out of my comfort zone to grow professionally and improve how I communicate and advocate for my clients.

I’m passionate about educating people on the importance of homeownership, the steps to take toward it, and how it contributes to building generational wealth. What sets me apart is my commitment to always putting my clients’ best interests first. I advocate for them, negotiate on their behalf, and ensure they feel supported throughout the entire process. Real estate has been an exciting journey, and I’m looking forward to continuing to learn and grow in this field.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
For me, I believe moreso in faith and favor than I do luck because of my believe in God. Faith has been a guiding force in both my personal life and business. It’s about trusting that God will work everything out for my good, even when I can’t see the full picture. I’m also very intentional about my thoughts and the words I speak. I believe in speaking life and positivity into everything I do because I want to see it thrive and succeed.
