Rising Stars: Meet Tim Thorn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Thorn.

Hi Tim, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always had a sense of fashion and style because of my parents who both were fashionable. My mom cared a lot about how her children looked when we were out in public so that was just a part of our fashion life.

In middle school, I was that weird student who wore clothing that was so-not fitting for that age of a student. They were straight-up runway fashion looks that my grandmother and I made.

Because of these experiences is where I have had a deep love for fashion. I decided about 11 years ago to start my fashion consultant business “Paisley360”.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This journey has been pretty much smooth and I think it is because this is where I am supposed to be. It is like the universe was waiting for me.

I guess one of the biggest struggles has been self-doubt. Sometimes when I’m challenged with a major project, I sometimes feel inadequate, so I have to tell myself “I can do this”.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
One of the things I am most proud of is being interviewed for GQ magazine in October 2018 because of my on-site stylist work with a non-profit organization for men. I am a style consultant, runway coach, and fashion designer.

One of the things that set me apart from others is my knowledge and professionalism in the industry. It’s important to know fabrics, body types, read personalities, etc.

What were you like growing up?
I have always been creative. My grandmother was a driving force in who I am today. She taught me how to play the piano, sew, crochet, do gardening and do construction. These experiences with her made me be of creative to this day.

Being a good listener is one of my strongest attributes because I had a severe speech impediment as a child which caused me to sit and listen because speaking was a challenge for me.
