Rising Stars: Meet Trevor Armstrong

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevor Armstrong.

Hi Trevor, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m from a small town north of Beaumont called Lumberton. Intuition was telling me to go to Houston in a crazy way. I packed my bags and moved there 2 weeks later into a studio apt in Montrose. I was at a house party off Cullen and met this guy Smashbro and we started a freestyle. A week later ran into him at the status lounge downtown, he was with his friends. That’s when I met my first producer Ill Faded, Fat Tony, and The Aspiring Me. I soon decided not to do Baylor College of Medicine and rap had found me. I just released my first single “Country Born” recently. This is my first project since 2013 and hitting the studio hard.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It honestly has, and the roads I’ve traveled have been super random in the best way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Currently, I’m a Project Manager in Construction and doing an MIT course in data science trying to change fields. I’m known for always setting up random goals and not being afraid to jump off the cliff. I’m proud to say I’m making music again and that I found myself in Houston. I wasn’t raised with a background in rap or banging screw when I was young.
