Rising Stars: Meet Zach Boudreaux of Galveston Texas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zach Boudreaux

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always been an artist, it runs in the family. so when it came to starting a career I knew I would have to find something art related. tattooing was never on the list, but when the opportunity opened up I figured I would give it a shot. my main art style since middle school had been pen and ink (drawing with pens, no erasing) so when it came to tattooing I already had a mindset of permanence and took to it very easily. that’s not to say that I was good at it immediately. I tattooed for about 5-6 years before I felt that I was actually decent at it. around that time I moved to Galveston and started working with much better artists and started to get a broader understanding of the trade. that’s when things started to take off for me. having people that where truly better than me to learn from and a steady supply of tourists to practice on helped me improve and polish my skill set. after that it was just doing the job and building a clientele. I’ve been in the Houston/Galveston area now for about 13 years now and couldn’t be happier with my progress and surroundings.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
its been mostly smooth sailing. but that comes mostly from keeping an open mind to criticism and staying humble. know when when to hold on to a good thing and when to cut your loses and move on to better things.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
been tattooing for 16/17 years now, I mostly specialize in black and grey realism and color Japanese. Although I will take on just about any project I can fit in the schedule. I would say I’m mostly known for doing quality work for a fair price, I understand that I’m nothing without the people that pay me to do the job and I try to be fair and consistent. I don’t take the job lightly and I don’t take on anything I cant handle. when some one choses me to to their work it is and honor to me that they want me to make their bodies for life and I strive to give them the best work and experience I can.

How do you think about luck?
I always say “if it wasn’t for bad luck I wouldn’t have any” so I don’t factor good luck in to many things. I’m where I am because of hard work and determination on my own part. regardless of luck you’re the only person that can make the changes/decisions that will put you where you want to be in life. so keep your eyes open for opportunity not luck.

Pricing:

  • I’m mostly hourly based $120 an hour
