Rising Stars: Meet Zazel Rosado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zazel Rosado.

Hi Zazel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
For the longest time, I struggled with figuring out how to grow my glutes. I was really unhappy with my appearance, always feeling too skinny and counting every single calorie that I consumed. I had an unhealthy relationship with food, and I would always avoid going out to eat with family and friends in fear of gaining weight. It got to the point where I was paranoid 24/7, and my obsession with calorie tracking made it really difficult for me to gain weight and love myself.

By switching to a protein-based diet and focusing on the foods that made me feel good, I slowly started to notice a difference in my emotions and physical appearance. Over time, I started to eat more calories and lift heavier at the gym. One of my main goals was to grow my glutes and build muscle. After three months of switching my diet and routine, I immediately started to see physical results. After a full year, I grew my glutes four more inches. I was in shock because all my life, I thought restrictive eating and dieting was ‘healthy.’ During this transition, I was eating a balance of both healthy and junk food, something I had never done before. I started baking desserts more often, and the prospect of dining out with family and friends shifted from being a source of guilt to one of excitement. Not only did eating more change my relationship with food and fitness, it drastically improved my lifestyle. Nowadays, I eat twice as much calories as I did before, and I have a very healthy relationship with food. I now feel at peace knowing that I can eat whatever I want while still crushing my fitness goals!

My passion is to inspire and guide others to develop a healthy relationship with food and achieve their fitness goals! I don’t want others to make the same mistakes that I did, and that’s why I share my knowledge on glute workouts, which I particularly enjoy. I want to emphasize that everyone starts as a beginner, including myself, so if you’re struggling to grow your glutes, don’t give up. It takes time and effort, but with perseverance, you can achieve your goals. Remember that progress is a journey, not an overnight process.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road at all. I didn’t know which exercises to do or what to eat. I would go on restrictive diets that would leave me hungry and unsatisfied with the foods I ate. You name it; I tried going on the keto diet, pescatarian diet, intermittent fasting, and cutting out sugar. Not to mention, I would do excessive cardio to the point of exhaustion. I was afraid to change my diet and exercise in fear of gaining body fat in the wrong places. It was difficult for me to look at myself in the mirror and love my body. This went on for years and got worse as the body standards changed.

At some point, I became exhausted with feeling depressed and anxious. It became tiring to constantly feel guilty after every meal I ate and to judge whether the meal was good enough. It wasn’t until I did a ton of research and trial and error that I learned how to have a healthier relationship with food. It took me about a year of experimentation to find what worked for me; however, it was not easy. Making the transition from hardly eating anything to consuming more food was a challenging task. I knew I needed to stop obsessively counting calories and just enjoy the foods that I loved.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
