Story & Lesson Highlights with Bailee Sanchez of Corpus Christi, TX

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Bailee Sanchez. Check out our conversation below.

Bailee, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
As someone who loves having a plan, life after graduation has definitely kept me on my wandering toes. I like to think that every time I make a plan, God has a little laugh – because He knows His plan so much bigger and better than mine. And honestly, He’s right. After earning my degree as a proud Aggie alum, I packed up my life and moved to Corpus Christi with one clear goal: to pour my heart into growing bailee.b.photography. While the pace of life here is slower, it’s given me the time and space to be intentional – setting new goals, refining my craft, and focusing on creating the best photo experience possible for my clients!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey y’all! I’m Bailee Sanchez – the photographer behind bailee.b.photography and a proud new Aggie alum! Ever since I can remember, I’ve been passionate about capturing life as it happens: the real, raw, joy-filled moments that deserve to be remembered! I launched bailee.b.photography in 2020 with a dream of turning my passion into something bigger. What started as a creative outlet has become one of the greatest blessings – getting to freeze time for others while doing something I truly love. Over the past five years I’ve poured my heart into growing my craft, learning the art of storytelling through natural, true-to-you photos. My goal? To help you feel fully present in the moment while I capture the memories that matter most.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I’ve always known that nobody lives forever, but what truly shifted my perspective – both in life and behind the camera – was realizing what an honor it is to capture a specific moment in time. It’s the family session where a loved one is missing. The maternity shoot for a long prayed for baby. The senior portraits taken in memory of a friend who didn’t get the chance. These aren’t just photos, they’re milestones, memories, and emotions frozen in time. Every day is a gift and I’ve been given the privilege of documenting some of life’s most raw and meaningful moments. That realization changed everything for me.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Never give up on your creativity – you have no idea where it’s going to take you! When I started my business at the end of my junior year of high school, I never could have imagined it would grow from a small West Texas town all the way down to the Texas coast. When I got accepted to Texas A&M, I didn’t plan on bringing my business with me – but all it took was one person believing I my work to reignite my passion on campus. From there, I photographed hundreds of Aggies while balancing life as a full-time student, and I realized something important: I could never put my camera down again – I just love it too much! Now that I’ve made the move to Corpus Christi, I can’t wait to meet the great people who will soon be in front of my lens. So to my younger self: keep creating, you’re building something beautiful!

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That you always have to have it all figured out – and that “winging it” means you’re unprofessional. The truth is, every photographer starts somewhere, and sometimes the best growth comes from trial, error, and simply asking for help. It’s so easy to get caught up in what everyone else is doing. You see their perfect poses, dreamy edits, or their magical golden hour light and wonder, how did they even think of that? But I promise you, they were once in your shoes too. I’ve learned that asking questions is what got me to where I am today. After calming my nerves with a little guidance, I usually turn to Pinterest to save poses to try. Sometimes they turn out beautifully and sometimes they go straight to the cull folder. But every time, I learn something new. Creativity doesn’t require perfection, it just requires the courage to start!

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
Even after five years in business and thousands of people in front of my lens, I still get butterflies before every session. I truly can’t wait to meet my clients and create something meaningful – something they’ll hold onto for a lifetime. People often ask, “What’s your favorite part of being a photographer?” and without hesitation, I always say, “the people.” If I have five sessions in a day, that’s five completely different stories. Five sets of dreams, five unique life chapters, five visions to bring to life. I don’t take that honor lightly. The fact that I get to wake up and do this for a living is one of the greatest blessings of my life. I give my heart to every session, and I’m endlessly grateful to be trusted with these once in a lifetime moments. So yes – I’m tap dancing, skipping, and sometimes even sprinting to work!
