Elizabeth Fertitta & Sylvia Longoria Dorsey & Lizzie Kappler shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Elizabeth & Sylvia & Lizzie , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Each of us feels called to step into something bigger than we may have once been afraid of. For me, it’s having the courage to dream on a larger scale for our business and to speak that vision out loud. For my mom, Sylvia, it’s sharing her lifelong love of tradition and design with the world. And for Lizzie, it’s trusting her creativity and leadership fully, stepping into the spotlight rather than staying behind the scenes. Together, we’ve all moved past fear into a place of boldness—building a brand that reflects who we are and what we believe in.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We’re Elizabeth Fertitta, Sylvia Longoria Dorsey, and Lizzie Kappler…the family and friends behind Look Linen Co. Together, we created a brand that blends our shared love of tradition, family, and design with a fresh, modern approach to luxury bedding.
What makes Look Linen Co. unique is how we’ve simplified something that once felt complicated or out of reach. For generations, monogrammed linens were either prohibitively expensive or required long, clunky processes. We changed that by offering beautifully made, high-quality linens at an approachable price point and building an online experience where customers can see their exact monogram in real time.
It’s a blend of timeless elegance and everyday accessibility. Luxury that feels warm, personal, and joyful. That’s the heart of Look Linen Co, and why it resonates so deeply with our customers.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
For me, that moment of power came when the idea for Look Linen Co. first sparked. It was like a lightbulb went off, the fire was lit, and there was no stopping me from bringing it to life. For my mom, Sylvia, it was the first time she saw her designs and eye for beauty fully realized through her interior design clients, an intimate joy that has now expanded to a much larger audience through our brand. For Lizzie, it was when she leaned into her creativity, taught herself everything there was to know about monograms, and built an incredible business with her first company, Lettrefina. Each of us has our own story of stepping into that sense of power, and together those moments form the foundation of Look Linen Co.
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
Failure has taught each of us something valuable. For me, failure taught me that perfection isn’t required to move forward—the fire is in taking action (just doing it) and learning along the way. For my mom, Sylvia, it was understanding that design can be more about warmth and joy than rigid rules, and that freedom made her creativity even stronger. For Lizzie, it deepened her belief in her own creativity, teaching her to trust her instincts and let her imagination guide her work. Those lessons shape how we build Look Linen Co. today.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies in the home and design industry is that true luxury has to be unattainable—that beautiful, personalized pieces must come with a sky-high price tag or an exhausting process. Another is that tradition automatically means outdated or stuffy. We’ve proven that monogrammed linens can be modern, joyful, and approachable, without losing an ounce of quality or elegance.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
I think I speak for all of us when I say we can hardly believe this is work. We are truly having the time of our lives. Even on the hard days—and there are definitely hard days—what we’re building with Look Linen Co. is exciting, joyful, and deeply fulfilling. It’s the kind of work that makes you want to jump out of bed in the morning and go to sleep thinking about at night.
