We’re looking forward to introducing you to HANK LE. Check out our conversation below.
HANK , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Honestly, there’s no such thing as a “normal” day — and I kind of like it that way. I usually start early and end late, often working past midnight. Running T-SPA means I wear a lot of hats — from overseeing day-to-day operations across our salons to developing new spa furniture and product lines that elevate both the aesthetic and functionality of our spaces.
My days are packed with problem-solving, design brainstorming, team check-ins, and constant decision-making — but I approach each task with intention and care. I’m passionate about creating environments that feel beautiful, modern, and healing, not just for clients but also for the people who work in them. That passion fuels everything I do.
Even though I work hard, I stay grounded. I don’t need the spotlight — I just want to build something great and make sure every detail reflects our brand’s vision and values. I do have an eye for style, and I believe the little things — from the finish on a pedicure chair to the lighting in a treatment room — matter a lot.
It’s long hours, but when you love what you’re building, it doesn’t feel like work.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Hank Le — CEO and founder of T-SPA. At our core, T-SPA is a design-forward, quality-driven company that creates luxury pedicure spa chairs and salon furnishings. But to me, it’s more than just a business — it’s about reimagining what beauty spaces can feel like: calm, inspiring, and built to last.
I started T-SPA with a deep love for craftsmanship, design, and the nail spa industry. I’ve always been hands-on — whether it’s designing new product lines, selecting materials, or working directly with salon owners to bring their visions to life. What makes us unique is our ability to blend form and function: elegant aesthetics paired with durability and thoughtful engineering.
I believe in leading with humility, staying close to our team and clients, and always striving to innovate. Right now, I’m especially excited about launching new collections that push boundaries — from spa chairs with cutting-edge features to custom furniture solutions for modern salons.
At the end of the day, it’s about helping people create beautiful spaces where clients feel pampered and professionals feel proud to work. That’s the heart of T-SPA, and that’s what keeps me going.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I’ve failed five times in business — and every single one of those failures shaped how I see the world today. At the time, each setback was painful and humbling, but I never let it break me. Instead, I treated every failure like a class — each one came with its own lesson, and I walked away smarter, tougher, and more focused.
What really shaped me wasn’t just the failures themselves, but how I chose to view them. I kept telling myself, “I’m lucky I failed while I was still young — not later when the stakes are higher.” That mindset gave me peace and motivation to keep going. I didn’t blame anyone, and I didn’t get stuck in regret. I just kept showing up and learning.
Now as the CEO of T-SPA, I carry those lessons with me every day — especially when leading a team or making big decisions. I know that setbacks are part of the process, and if you stay grounded, work hard, and keep your heart in the right place, something great will eventually come out of it.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Honestly, no. I’ve failed many times, but I’ve never thought about giving up. That’s just not in me. When things get hard, I might slow down — maybe I walk instead of run — but I always keep moving forward.
Every challenge has been a lesson. I believe that if I’m still learning, I’m still growing. Even when I was starting over for the fourth or fifth time, I didn’t see it as the end — just a new phase of figuring things out. Giving up would mean giving up on the opportunity to become better, and I never wanted that.
I’m not afraid of failure. I’m more afraid of not trying, of staying the same. That mindset has kept me going, and it’s one of the core values behind how we’ve built T-SPA — with patience, passion, and progress, one step at a time.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
I think a lot of smart people today are chasing perfection instead of progress. They wait until everything is polished, every detail is flawless, or every risk is eliminated — and by the time they act, the opportunity is gone.
In real life, especially in business, nothing is ever perfect. I’ve learned that momentum matters more than perfection. You have to start, learn as you go, and be willing to adjust. Smart ideas don’t mean much without execution and consistency.
I also think some people focus too much on status or image — building brands that look good on the outside, but don’t have real heart or purpose behind them. What lasts is honesty, quality, and showing up day after day to do the work — even when it’s not glamorous.
So for me, it’s not about being the smartest person in the room — it’s about being the one who listens, learns, and keeps building, one honest step at a time.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What pain do you resist facing directly?
If I’m honest, it’s the fear of not being enough — not for the business, not for my team, not for my family. I carry a lot of responsibility, and I set high standards for myself. But sometimes that pressure turns into silence. I don’t always talk about the weight I carry, even with people close to me.
I tend to process things internally. When something hurts — whether it’s disappointment, betrayal, or even burnout — my first instinct is to keep moving, stay strong, and focus on solutions. It’s how I was raised, and it’s how I survived my early failures. But I’ve come to realize that pushing pain aside doesn’t make it go away — it just gets buried.
I’m still learning how to slow down and sit with those feelings — to be okay with vulnerability and imperfection. It’s not easy, but I know that facing those inner struggles is just as important as solving the business ones.
