Jessica Wright shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Jessica , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
This is a great question, I would have to go with energy, In this world today there are so many people pretending to be something they are not. I believe social media and the internet gives people a falsehood of reality. Its very easy to pick up a book and quote something or research things to make you sound intelligent but that does not make it true. Having integrity is very very very important because without it who are you really? If you choose to live in a way that isn’t real or true, then you are jeopardizing that integrity, but that is also something you can “fake”. Energy is one thing that can not be faked, even on a surface level. As an empath energy is something I can sense almost immediately. I trust my intuition more than most. So , to me, energy is more important because energy tells me things you cant hide.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jessica Wright. I am the owner, founder and master Licensed massage therapist (LMT) of Majestic Therapy, a Houston-based massage practice dedicated to helping people relax, recover and perform at their best. What started as a mobile massage business has grown into a wellness brand that blends traditional massage techniques with innovative recovery tools like muscle scraping, cupping sports massage and athletic recovery programs.
I’ve had the privilege of working with athletes , busy professions and everyday people who simply need to reset – and I take pride in creating a space where everyone feels cared for and rejuvenated. What makes Majestic Therapy unique is our balance of luxury and performance – we’re as much about relaxation as we are about results.
Right now, I am focusing on expanding Majestic Therapy into a Relax and Recovery facility, building a team and brining our services to a larger community and athletic events. My mission is simple: help people feel and function at their absolute best, one session at a time.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
I’ve spent most of my life showing up for myself and others, making sure that whatever needed to be done got done, no matter what it took. I learned early on not to depend on anyone else, partly to avoid disappointment, partly out of pure survival.
That mindset has carried me far – it’s helped me build a life I’m proud of and see many of my dreams come true. But as I step into the next version of myself, I know I can’t keep doing it alone. Growth now means trusting my team, releasing some control, and allowing others to support me .
It’s not easy…but its neccessary.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Romans 8:18 says “I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us”
I’ve learned in order to succeed you must fail. If you never know suffering or failure how could you possibly know what success is? I will be 39 years old soon and my time on this earth I’ve experienced heartache, betrayal, natural disasters taking everything from me and my family, pain, emptiness, doubt and so much more. I didn’t grow up in a rich neighborhood or with a lot of opportunity. I remember opening my refrigerator as a child and only seeing mayonnaise. I remember not having my own room, getting pregnant as a teenager and learning a tough lesson in loyalty. I also remember being grateful because I thought hurricane Harvey missed our home only to realize that the flood water would take it away.
But in all of that struggle and suffering, I found love, friendship, strength, determination and the ability to never give up. The hard times are what shape us into who we truly are. Some stand up, thrive and push through adversity. I know now that it takes a lot to have a lot. In order to retain what is given to you, you must first attain the required strength and mindset to maintain what is given.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
Honestly, knowing that history repeats itself and trusting myself to be true to who I am.
I’m not old lol, however, I’ve been around long enough to know how fast things come and go. I do my best to stay up with all the latest trending topics, but at the end of the day I trust my intuition. Sometimes people will tell me I should get this, or try that but if i don’t find any value in what is being suggested I am not going to dive into it. Its usually here today and gone tomorrow.
Foundational shifts are usually not taken as seriously by the masses. Most of the time if it is a foundational shift there is going to be some conspiracy or downplaying of how this will not work. Look at Uber, when I was a teenager my parents would never let me get into a strangers car to take me anywhere let alone pay them to take me in their vehicle without knowing anything about them. But today this is one of the biggest means of transportation.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Its all about how you treat others. Not every act of kindness is meant to be returned, and thats okay.
I have lived by the motto ‘treat others how you would like to be treated”. What that saying doesn’t mention, is that others may not treat you the same in return.
The easiest thing we can do as a people is to genuinely look at others with compassion. I do my best to give the best version of myself to all people I meet. I believe if I can then why not? I am told that “I do to much” but I reply with am I doing to much or is everyone else not doing enough?
We are so submerged in ourselves that we tend not to take into accountability that other people deserve humility. Don’t expect YOU out of others, just make sure when it comes to others, you do what you can to treat them kindly, give them compassion and give them grace without expecting it in return.
