We recently had the chance to connect with Lauren Avant and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Lauren, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I think one of the biggest misunderstandings about wedding content creation is that it’s ‘just taking videos on a phone.’ In reality, it’s a highly intentional service that captures behind-the-scenes, in-between moments that often get missed by photographers and videographers. Our goal isn’t to replace them, but to complement them by preserving the candid, emotional, and fun moments that couples want to relive right away—often within 24 hours. It’s a modern storytelling service, not just for social media, but as a personal, memory-rich keepsake of the day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Lauren, the founder of Moments by Thrive—a wedding content creation business based in Texas. I started this brand out of a love for storytelling and the little moments that make big memories. At Moments by Thrive, we capture the behind-the-scenes of a couple’s wedding day using phones to film raw, candid, and emotional clips that are delivered within 24 hours. Our goal is to give couples an authentic, unfiltered view of their day from a guest’s perspective—something they can relive immediately and cherish forever.
What makes us unique is that we’re not replacing your photographer or videographer—we’re filling in the gaps and telling the real-time story. From happy tears and dance floor chaos to quiet moments with loved ones, we’re there to document it all. It’s personal, it’s nostalgic, and it’s the kind of content you can’t wait to share. Right now, I’m working on expanding our team across Texas to help more couples get this one-of-a-kind coverage. It’s been an amazing journey, and I feel so lucky to be trusted with such meaningful moments.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was a creative kid with big ideas, always observing the little moments others overlooked. I was the one capturing memories on disposable cameras, making videos just for fun, and dreaming of doing something different—something meaningful. I wasn’t chasing a traditional path; I was chasing connection, expression, and the joy of making people feel seen. Somewhere along the way, the world tried to tell me I needed a “real job” or to follow a more conventional route—but I found my way back to that original version of myself through Moments by Thrive. She’s still here—just with better equipment and a lot more confidence!
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that’s held me back the most has been the fear of not being taken seriously. Starting a business in a space that’s still new—like wedding content creation—comes with a lot of explaining and justifying. I used to worry that people wouldn’t understand the value of what I do, or that they’d see it as “just social media stuff.” That fear made me play small at times or second-guess myself. But over time, I’ve learned that leaning into what makes my work different is exactly what sets it apart. Now I remind myself: just because something is new doesn’t mean it isn’t valuable—it just means I get to be part of defining it.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies my industry tells itself is that traditional photo and video coverage are enough to capture the full story of a wedding day. Don’t get me wrong—photographers and videographers are essential and incredibly talented—but there’s a belief that once you have them, you don’t need anything else. The truth is, today’s couples want more: they want the raw, unfiltered, real-time memories that feel like reliving the day from a friend’s perspective. Wedding content creation fills that gap. It’s not a trend—it’s a shift in how people want to remember and share one of the biggest moments of their lives.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I can confidently say I’m doing what I was born to do. For a long time, I tried to follow the path others expected—safe choices, steady jobs, traditional career ideas. But none of it ever felt like me. Starting Moments by Thrive was the first time I truly trusted my gut and chose passion over permission. Creating, storytelling, connecting with people on one of the most emotional days of their lives—that lights me up in a way nothing else ever has. This business isn’t just what I do—it’s who I am. And getting to live in that alignment every day feels like coming home to myself.
