We recently had the chance to connect with Noise Gate and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Noise, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
As the current manager for the band, I am beyond proud of relationship we have built.
From the beginning of the band as much as I wanted to write music I enjoyed, I also wanted to create a bond with my band mates that exceeds the band and transcends into our real worlds.
As of right now, I am more than content with the bonds we have as not just bandmates but also friends.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Our name is Noisegate, we are a rock and roll band from Houston TX.
We blend sounds from 90’s bands such as Soundgarden and Audioslave vocals with Helmet-esque riffs.
We seek to bring a vintage sound to a modern audience with a spin.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
When I was younger, I remember being infatuated with music from Santana all the way to the pop music of the 2000’s.
Even from a young age I displayed a gravitation to music when I would get excited to certain songs or feel sad whilst others played.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
When we lost our first drummer I was more than ready to throw in the towel but, once we saw Leo and got to jam with him a new spark was brought into the band
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Authenticity.
Although some of our music won’t connect with everyone or the lyrics, we strive to keep everything 100% authentic and true to ourselves
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I tend to feel the most comfortable and at peace when I get to write with my band and enjoy the loud sounds of the music we make
