What is the most important lesson you’ve learned building your business that you can share with those just starting out in their entrepreneurial journey?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned while building my business(es) is the importance of knowing my “why”. I’ve always been an ambitious person, so when it came to understanding my “why” and setting goals when I started my first decorating company back in 2006, I knew I had to create a vision for the next 15 years and stick to it no matter what was going on around me. My “why” allowed me to stay focused, in my lane, and scale my business to first a design firm to now a design-build firm that encompasses design & construction services in-house. Setting goals early on gave me a clear foundation for how I wanted to scale my business through educational experiences, visibility, and strategic partnerships. Without that ability to think big 15 years ago, I don’t know if R J Clifton Designs, LLC would be what it is today.
