Check Out aalbyno’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to aalbyno.

Hi aalbyno, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Hello! My name is aalbyno and I’m a born and raised Houstonian but of Nigerian descent. I’ve been working on my multimedia art since my freshman year in 2019, at least working on it to be released to the public.

I feel like I’ve been doing it for such a long time. Fast forward and I’m a student at the University of Houston. There’s not really much to me, I feel like I’m just another person finding themselves in the world.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Of course, there have always been struggles, that’s just life. One of the biggest challenges I face is more within myself than externally. There are always moments where I feel like I’m being lazy, that I’ve felt uninspired or that I’ve been able to go as far as I know I can.

Of course, you can’t force it out, I don’t want to die for the cause but it’s like a constant battle of “you should have been starting on this,” or “you are wasting time on nothing when you could be doing that.” It’s just constant pressure that isn’t really there that I have to continue to tell myself it will be okay.

Sometimes just juggling all kinds of hats from student to photographer, to director, to producer, to model, to friend, to employee. It can be challenging for me, for anyone really. Like the strive to do more without spreading too thin.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I don’t want to label myself with just one hat, however, I’ve been mostly getting recognition from my photography. I started film photography about a year ago, later picking up my first digital camera to help expand my horizons. I find a lot of enjoyment in trying something new, as I create new vessels to display the visions and stories I’ve written throughout the past decade of my life.

Photography has been a lot of fun, and now I want to expand upon it, with many other forms of media, whether it is written and sketched on pencil and pad, or recorded in various music production. I love to just create what my mind sets off to. I’m happy that I’ve come so far from where I was before, as I look back months to years ago, proud of myself for even starting and learning soo much.

Of course, I’m not the best I know I can be, but I’m better than before which is great in its own right. I feel like I’ll slowly break away with a distinct energy as time goes by.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I would like to think it’s being able to be open-minded. Not in a way that clashes with my existing belief, but in a way that allows me to always brings new ideas and experiences, in a way that allows me to meet with all kinds of people in almost every crowd there is. It’s great for me because I believe it allows me to find success working with whoever it is, as well as build a relationship with them that in turn, motivates me to continue to do what I do and get better.

There are so many talented individuals in this city that I am grateful that I got the opportunity to meet and ever work with. I don’t believe there’s anyone too big or too small to interact with. I want to be able to show all kinds of love to these people, as I can learn a thing or two from just about anyone. I believe it’s needed to be open to the new world they bring.
