Today we’d like to introduce you to Fridio Flash.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
“Moments are meant to be captured but the ability to enjoy life and see the moments are priceless”.
Growing up I was either taking photos, recording, or even sometimes in front of the camera cherishing a moment. I started off with vintage equipment but with the outdated equipment I had. There was only so much I could’ve done. From the CD-Player to my first iPod Touch I always wanted to know more about it and discover the next big thing in the hopes that one day it will pay off. I am always learning about new discoveries, and keeping up to the latest trends, and technology. Many people did not like me at first because they thought that I was either weird, curious, or even lame just because I always wanted to learn and improve in life. Some got upset because I chose to be better as a person and not follow the bad habits that were around me. But, I never allowed the negative connotation to define me.
When COVID-19 hit the world I was very confused and lost because I did not understand what would be next for humanity or if I’ll be able to have a normal life after the pandemic. Like most people I started a TikTok and got into YouTube more and honestly I figured out and discovered a lot of informative videos and motivational videos that kept my brain going. I learned that in life, in order for you to succeed, you have to take a risk or risks. One of the risks I took was buying a DSLR camera, lens, flash, lights, backdrop and tripod. I started my business: Fridio Flash Photography and started taking every moment that deserved to be captured. I did it because I believe in the brand so much and confidently I know that when all else is said and done. I will be glad I did it. At first, it was challenging for me to get a job, even with the amount of applications I submitted to Indeed. I was getting declined or not accepted. The last job I worked at happened to be an Overnight Job and I told myself, “I’ll never do this shift again and that I’m going to start investing in the vision”.
I told myself I will rather be happy doing something I love than doing something I hate. I feel like everyone should choose happiness and be at peace.
With my business, I capture every moment that needs to be captured and I’ve been happier than I was before, and I I’m looking forward to working with anyone who’s ready to work.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I’m going to be straight up with you guys… No, it has not. I was homeless at one point, and being a black business owner, many people try to discredit your work. Sometimes people would want to lowball and make you feel like your prices are very high. Finding clients and events has been a struggle too because of COVID.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I like to classify myself as a versatile photographer because I have the range and my work speaks for itself. I specialize in getting people’s right sides and angles. I’m known to be passionate about my craft and influential to other people. Something that I’m most proud of is my patience throughout all the adversities I’ve faced. Mental Health is important and it is the reason why taking the time and remembering to breathe is important as well. What sets me apart from others is the fact that I just believed in myself and I never lost focus on the goal that I have set for myself.
Any big plans?
I want to network and connect with other individuals who are ready to work and expand. I plan to work with events, celebrities, athletes, brands, and even music artists in the future. I know how it was growing up to this point and I always wanted better for my life, and generations to come. Nevertheless, also send blessings back to the people who believed in me since day one and always kept it genuine.
