Life & Work with Saundra Horton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Saundra Horton.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
So I’ve always been involved in fitness in some form. I grew up an athlete, I’ve participated in Basketball, Track & Field, Powerlifting and even Golf. When I was in college that came to a halt, gained way more than a freshman 15 and had to get back to the basics. During this time is where I fell in love with fitness all over again, I encouraged many of my friends to get in shape as well.

Fast forward to Quarantine 2020, that same spark came back and I began to share my workouts online with my friends. And Last year, I decided to take on 2 things, starting my training business Top Notch Training & becoming an online Fitness Influencer. I’ve always been a Plus Size girl but there’s never been much representation for us in the fitness community, I love that so many people can see themselves in me! I encourage all of my clients develop a lifestyle that is enjoyable & sustainable. Both my business and online community are such a blessing, I have worked with fitness brands that I would have never thought even noticed me and have helped clients reach their goals. And I am just getting started!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course not, with anything comes struggles. The main one for me was self doubt, and it still is sometimes. It’s so easy to question whether I belong in this space or not. Even though we are starting to see more inclusivity online, there was still a space where curvy girls needed representation, a space for me and girls like me, especially in the fitness community.

It’s also hard to stay consistent when you aren’t seeing results as quick as you want. But I’ve learned to give myself grace, I like to share the struggles of staying motivated with my followers & clients. It reminds me and them that we have to hold ourselves accountable and stick to our goals but we have to remember that this is a journey, and lasting results don’t come quick!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a full-time Fitness influencer/Content Creator & Personal Trainer. It pretty much consumed my life but I honestly wouldn’t want to have it any other way. Online I share my fitness journey, workouts, and ways to stay motivated. As a said before, I’m a curvy girl in fitness so I’ve built a community of people who can see themselves in me.

Im proud of the fact that I have found a balance of working hard and being consistent in my fitness journey along with enjoying every moment of it. It can be so easy to lose sight of the end goal, especially the life gets in the way.

I think what sets me apart is I’m very transparent, I’m not afraid to share my highs and lows.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I’m a pretty humble person and I always try to operate out of love. With anything I give the glory to Him, every milestone any accomplishment is not by my own doing. I enjoy sharing my fitness journey and encouraging the people around me. Being authentic and your true self on social media is so rare and that’s why I think people I’ve built the community that I have.
