Meet Alfreda Ashiofu of Frolicious Naturals in Sugar Land

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alfreda Ashiofu.

Alfreda, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started off as a natural hair blogger(Freda Fro) back in 2013 and was mainly doing reviews on other brands, documenting how it affected my hair or skin. Eventually, I started formulating my own blend of oils and butters just to enhance my blog content then gradually I started making them for family and friends to help with their hair and skin needs. One evening I was in my parent’s kitchen with my one of my sisters and her friend with a 5 lb block of shea butter sitting on the counter, Her friend then started asking me questions about what I used the raw shea butter for and next thing I knew, he inspired me to start my own business selling whipped shea butter. I went to walmart the next day, bought some packaging supplies and set a goal that if I sold 12 jars of body butters in two weeks, then this business will be permanent. I ended up selling 12 in two days and just like that I began branching out into soaps, then beard products, now fast forward to today and I have multiple lines that cater to everything hair to toe.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, it was hard for me to understand that with business some days or months are horrible sales-wise and then other times sale volumes can be super high. I also had to find the fine line between business and personal because it can be easy to mix the two together and get walked all over by friends.

Frolicious Naturals – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Frolicious Naturals is a company that provides you with cruelty-free, natural skincare, hair care, and beard products. I’m most proud of the fact that all products in my store have a unique formula with amazing ingredients that I specially curated to fit specific needs all brought to you at an affordable price.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me means achieving any goal I set for myself or business (whether long term or short term) before my desired deadline. In order to achieve my success, I first make sure every goal I set is realistic and attainable then I put in a lot of effort to reach them.
