Meet Amanda Vlastas of West University Moms in West University

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Vlastas.

Amanda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
When I moved to Houston from a ten year stretch of globetrotting, meandering the states and ultimately settling down to start my family, I had to build a new network, a group of mom friends, great resources and ultimately, my life. What I quickly found was the most welcoming city I have ever called home and instantly fell in love with Houston.

As a mother of two, it didn’t take long to see that Houston is a parent’s dream… whether it’s one of the many museums, parks, activities, mommy pampering deals, date night, girl’s night… the opportunities are endless. I have cumulated local resources, activities and articles on my website, West University Moms.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been wonderful, I don’t see anything as a struggle but more of a learning experience. It has been amazing to meet local business owners and network with other moms. The only thing I wish I had more of – is time! I feel like the resources are never-ending in Houston and I want to be able to offer it all to my fellow moms. I could spend countless hours accumulating local events and activities, but I am also raising two small boys who take up the most of my focus.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with West University Moms – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are a go-to resource for everything in & around West University, Houston! If you are trying to figure out what to do on any given day, looking for mommy tips or simply staying in the know, West University Moms is your one-stop-shop. We were founded with the very simple goal of saving you time and energy by providing a comprehensive collection of local events and resources, building our mommy community and creating a safe place for #momtalk.

The site includes a calendar of events, a resource guide to our neighborhoods and general information that we find helpful to local families including many other topics highlighting the joyous chaos that comes along with being a mom.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are looking to expand to the other neighborhoods and suburbs of Houston to provide those moms with the same information that the moms in West U have.
