Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Hernandez.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started almost nine years ago not knowing where I was going to get to what I was actually doing. One day I just simply decided to do my own nails, I had looked at YouTube videos and taught it wasn’t hard. I took a trip to the nearest Walgreens and bought one of those kits to do your own white tips. I tried to do my nails, total failed! Wasn’t as easy as it looked. I put it up and don’t think I could do it.
I kept looking at videos decided to try again and again. My nails were horrible but still, I was amazed of how I could do them on my own. I posted it on FB of course saying I had done my own acrylic nails. My friends then asked me to do theirs and I did. With time and lots of practice my work got better I gained “clients” And my business grew. Here I am 9 years later very busy, and very grateful for what I had built. I never took a class never took a training class. Seven years later, I decided to go to Nail technician school and get license.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Smooth is not the right way, but thanks to the help I had around me and the people who believe in me made it some way easy. My husband is my number 1 supporter he helped me a lot when I first started. We had three daughters at that time, so he helped with them a lot. I wasn’t as busy but the times I had to work on people he would take care of our girls. Never needed an actual babysitter. That’s a plus!
Please tell us about The Brenda Nails.
I specialize in acrylic nails, any shape. Simple as square tips, coffin, stilettos and round shapes. I do 3D flowers, bows anything that you can bring me I can try and make. I pretty much can recreate any picture if I have the material. I use high-end crystals (Swarovski). What sets me apart from others on the same field is that I love what I do, I love to create. I do it with passion, not to mention I was self-taught. Learned from watching YouTube videos.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I don’t think there’s a different way I would of started. The way I started makes me know it was meant to be.
