Shanquria, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up as a teenager, I always wanted to stay updated on the newest trend out. How can I get my hair to look like the celebrity on television.? That’s how I got interested in doing my own hair. Every other day I would switch my hairstyle in middle school. The magic of what hair weave and gel could do for a young girl was out of this world. I just knew I would be a hairstylist one day but life didn’t agree the same. To fast forward I went to college for Pharmacy while working full time at The Post Office and lost track of hair until 2015. My happy space was not being fulfilled at this time. The hair world was blossoming with virgin hair extensions and I wanted to be apart of the success. I operate on PFW- Praying Faith Works! I prayed and worked until God opened up a door for me with a quality hair vendor in 2017. Which lead to Stay Pretty Hair a Raw Indian Human Hair Extension Company.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing is smooth; planes encounter turbulence, ships encounter waves you get it! You have to know if you start it, you have to finish it. That calls for late nights, early mornings: While having a 9-5 is a challenge itself, the time you give your job needs to be the attention your business gets. When you need the capital to fund your dream you have no choice until your season comes. In the hair industry you have to test your product out before putting it out for sale. Which took me two years to find and trust my vendors beforehand. Therefore by the time I got ready to get into the hair market, it’s hard to get people to believe in your products when it’s everywhere you look. I take my struggles and learn from them and add it to my DO NOT REPEAT list! Trusting God’s timing is a must!

How about I call it a Lucky Blessing! I believe everything happens at the right time for the right reason. I don’t think of me finding a good hair vendor as being lucky, I feel God lead me to them at the right timing of my life. If it’s for you it’s yours! Good or bad luck. I feel luck comes into play when I think of a goal and boom I see an IG ad or hear someone tell me about that goal I just thought about. That’s Good luck to me. I hope to go have tons of good luck in the future though lol.
