Meet Sylvia Kampshoff | Kanthaka Trainers on Demand Kampshoff 

We’re so pumped about our conversation with Sylvia Kampshoff. Sylvia is the CEO and founder of Kanthaka and is also a content partner. Hi Sylvia, thank you so much for sitting down with us again. For folks who might have missed our initial interview, can you start by briefly introducing yourself?
I am Sylvia Kampshoff, The CEO and founder of Kanthaka. Prior to starting Kanthaka I worked as an M&A attorney at a top tier US Law Firm but always had a passion for health and fitness. Moving to the US and the entrepreneurial ecosystem gave me the courage to follow my passion to revolutionize the one on one health and fitness space with Kanthaka. We had an amazing journey sofar with great growth now available in 15 cities throughout the US with over 10000 sessions conducted with Kanthaka Trainers.

Why did you start Kanthaka?
When I still worked in law I wanted to find a trainer to meet me at my office gym. However it was impossible to find somebody who fit in my busy schedule. When I did a google search, hardly any trainer responded or if so, they didn’t have any slots available when I was free to train. I ended up starting at a big box gym, at an extremely high price for only 25 minutes and no flexibility with the scheduling. They also bound me with a 12 months long term contract with 0 flexibility in switching between trainers or training time. I couldn’t understand that such an important space was so broken. As I couldn’t stop thinking about the problem I started working on it myself and love the journey ever since and the huge success we had up to date helping pour clients live healthier and happier on their schedule and time.

What is your vision for Kanthaka?
My vision is for Kanthaka to be the to go to provider to live a longer, happier and healthier life. We found that we are serving a horribly underserved demographic, who wants to stay healthy and fit from the privacy and convenience of their home at affordable pricing with highly vetted trainers. We want to add on nutrition and meditation. We also just kicked off a Lifestyle program to help our clients with nutrition and accountability which we found are key drivers to our clients success.

Who is your main demographic?
Our main demographic is female between 30 and 50 years old. We obviously absolutely love all our clients but see a spike in that gender and age group. We cater towards the needs of our busy clients not only with the App booking tool of highly vetted trainers but also a team of client success heroes who help our clients with the scheduling and accountability. We are not just an App, but focus on a ten star client experience and our number one goal is to make our clients happy and healthy.

What makes you different from other fitness startups?
A lot of fitness startups kicked off during the pandemic focusing primarily on virtual fitness. Everything is pre recorded and the human interaction and accountability is missing. That might me the right solution for a lot of people but our clients are looking for the actual human interaction and accountability only an actual trainer can provide. Also we differentiate ourselves that we have a team of client success heroes assisting with the scheduling and any questions. We don’t just leave our users alone with an App but want to be a crucial part of their journey and success.
