Meet Traci Silverman of Feeling Great Today in West Loop/Bellaire

Today we’d like to introduce you to Traci Silverman.

Traci, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I love to feel great, don’t you?  I love to enable others to feel great, too! This personal feeling of wellness may be physical, spiritual, emotional, or any combination of these traits. I want to lay a pathway for others to be their best… whatever that looks like for the individual. The vision behind Feeling Great Today is to provide guidance for every person to be their very best at any moment in time, at any age. Our hectic, face-paced world often gets in the way of people having the time or knowledge to take excellent care of themselves. My goal is to work with clients in highly customized ways that fit their personal needs and personal schedules. Taking great care of yourself should not be time-consuming or painful to the body, or a burden to the mind. A client’s personal safety, satisfaction and results are my highest priorities.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It seems that the road of small business is rarely smooth. Going the extra mile, getting creative, open communication, persistence, and patience are qualities that I have found to be effective when creating and growing a small business. Initially, I wanted to say “yes” to every opportunity and to everyone. I have become better at politely declining opportunities that do not fit my vision. This allows me to feel right about the decisions I make, and how my business moves forward. It is a-ok to say “Thank you very much, but this offer/opportunity does not align with the scope of my business.”

Feeling Great Today – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Feeling Great Today is a wellness company that focuses on the entire person. The goal may be to improve core strength, balance, flexibility, posture, aerobic capacity, nourishment through healthy foods, develop positive attitudes, or improve sleeping habits. I specialize in programs that are highly customized based upon needs, regardless of age. Age is a mere number that does not define one’s abilities to feel excellent. The success of the clients I work with is incredible. The credit goes to the “Coach/Client Partnership”. Dedication to self-care is what potentially defines one’s ability to feel excellent.

As the median age of our population increases, the wellness of seniors becomes more and more important. I do quite a bit of work with seniors to maintain or develop balance and strength. I have a newly created Brain Power/Body Power program that is extraordinary.  Much of  the aging population is knowledgable and active.  I want to keep it this way!

The work that I do with clients to strengthen the core is exceptional. This is changing the way people function on a daily basis. Clients, friends, and family are never surprised if I ask them about their posture, their strength, or their ability to do all of the things they wish they are able to do. If there is a deficit in daily performance, I want to find a solution to the challenge. No one is ever surprised to see me planking on social media to create more awareness of core strength & stability. I love it when I can involve others in this fun. People have sent me planking photos from all over the world!

For those that love adventure, Feeling Great Today partners with Roam Yoga Retreats for wellness getaways that are based around safe, healthy movement.  Our upcoming retreat, May Day Magic, in Taos, NM May 1-5 is dedicated to yoga, hiking, and clean eating.  We will be offering chef prepared meals, ten yoga classes, 3 hiking opportunities, a cooking class taught by a James Beard awarded chef and plenty of relaxation time.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is fulfillment. Success is seeing a person’s eyes light up. Success is witnessing someone do something that they did not think they could do. Success is being able to encourage others not to compare themselves to others, or what they once had; but to develop a determination to make gradual changes in one’s self. I want clients to feel that every day is filled with the feeling that you are healthy and well, to serve yourself and to serve others.

It seems that I am always looking for ways to make things a bit better. I ask myself, “What can I do for this client that enables him/her to find greater success?” “What can I do for this group of individuals to provide a better experience?” “How can we have more fun?” After all, FUN is where it’s at!
