Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris (TracMuzik) Thomas.
Hi TracMuzik, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started as a musician ( Drummer ) in middle school. Both of my parents had a church that started from our home. We had a huge game room which was the whole back part of our house. Both of my parents Converted that game room at a church building that had all the Instruments that I taught myself to play. If you asked me, that was the toy store lol. I played and practiced on every instrument we had when I came home from football practice after school. One day I was on the keyboard fumbling around on the keyboard messing with the sequencer trying to understand how that work. I thought to myself “I wonder if I could mimic these other producers I hear on the radio.” Just testing myself to see if I can sound exactly like them. Back then I was listening to a lot of 8 Ball & MJG, Fat Pat, Lil Keke, Zro, Slim Thug, Mike Jones. The only two producers I knew were Tony Draper (8ball & MJG producer) and Sean (Lil KeKe producer) which I’m related to through my older sister. I started to Ace that lane of mimicking. Then I told myself “ now let’s see what you can create yourself!” To make a story short, I stayed consistent at producing and studying what was out there on the radio because I wanted to be one of those producers that were getting radio play!
Fast forward to years later, I’ve linked up with a brother I grew up in church around 2015’, A known H town artist and legend that goes by the name “ JDAGR8 “. First off, I had no clue he was an artist when I moved back to H town and the last time I saw him we were kids!! Lol. We ended up reuniting, he didn’t know I was a producer back then, I sent him a track, he was vibing to it and that’s where it all begin for me as a producer!!
My very first big album that my beats were debut on was Jdagr8 “ TillWeAllRich “ album which was a 50 song album. No rapper has ever completed an album with that amount of songs with only 1 feature which was NBA YOUNGBOY. I produced 7 hits on there, 2 of them were singles. From there Til now I have over 50 songs I’ve produced from many different artists like ProPain, Beatking, etc that’s on all platforms !!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wanted to say so many cuss words that can be a part of this answer. Lol but in the calmly way. Noooooooooooooo!!! Lol, The struggle was strong arm tough!!! The issues of life and certain ppl had me second guessing about producing. I sold my equipment due to not having money in my pocket to take care of bills and such.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Ï specialize in music production. I try to touch on all genres when I produce. Live instrumentation included..
I’ve been known for the trap beats with the heavy 808s, drumming and live bass instrumentation.
What sets me apart from the rest, I can play the actual instruments on my production. Maybe not the electric guitar lol. I need more time on that. I do mess around on that as well tho so beware ppl lol.. For real, I’m a one-man-band. However, I still want the creative minds from other bros I know which they go by “ KeyKartel “ my producer bros (JFever, 6Points, YungRomo and Jayhitem) Team of fire producers that I’ve built a relationship with over the past few years!
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
