Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Rosilez.
Amber, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up, my parents were youth pastors and I can remember our weekends being all about serving the community and speaking positive words of affirmation at youth rallies in our small town. It is something that I treasure about my youth and value the life lessons they imparted unto me. I have always had a passion for something more in life and as I grew up, I desperately wanted to explore what the world had for me. I initially wanted to become a journalist. I loved the idea of speaking with people and getting to know “the story.” God had a different plan for me and I realized that nursing was my true calling. I moved to Beaumont, TX and earned my way into the Dishman Department of Nursing at Lamar University, where I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse.
It was during this time that I met my husband and we began our careers; I worked in a busy emergency room for a few years and it was the most stressful yet rewarding time in my life. It was here that I realized how fleeting life was; so fragile. It was a truly humbling experience and it impacted me forever. After starting our family and moving back to the Richmond/Rosenberg area, was when I decided to start my blogging journey; a creative outlet to step away from the realities of nursing. The love I had for journalism and people had not changed, but in fact, become stronger. I have met some wonderful people in my first year of blogging and it has opened the door for amazing opportunities; one of which being the amazing businesses that I have connected with.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I struggled with the idea of how much to share with the world in terms of my personal life with my kids and husband. It is a journey that I am on as person and knowing where to draw the line in sharing certain things.. Mostly, I want to share the good times we have and allow it to be a memory for them.
Rosi & Co. Blog – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from others?
I am proud of the relationships I have built through my blog and networking with others. It has become something that I enjoy and have fun doing. In the future, I plan to share more about places we visit as a family and obstacles we have had to overcome along our journey.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
As far as my nursing career, I’m now working in oncology with patients receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapies. But when I’m not nursing, I enjoy special community projects and focusing on my family. I recently had the privilege of hosting a baby shower to benefit a local women’s shelter. The entire event was 100% sponsored and all of the items donated went to help women in crisis. The out pour of support from everyone involved was truly amazing. To see it all come together made me proud that I had stepped out of my comfort zone to make a difference in the community.
