Alberto Medellin’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

Alberto Medellin shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Alberto, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Who are you learning from right now?
Right now, I’m learning a lot from my closest friends. We push each other, share what’s working, and talk honestly about what isn’t. Each of them has a different strength. Some are better with discipline, others with patience or creativity, and being around that keeps me growing. It’s a reminder that learning doesn’t always come from formal mentors, sometimes it’s the people who really know you that teach you the most.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Alberto Medellin, a real estate investor and mentor based in the Houston and Galveston area. My wife and I started this journey back in 2020 with one flip, and what began as a side project quickly turned into a full-time passion. Today, we own a mix of rental properties and Airbnbs, run a property management business, and we help others learn how to build wealth through real estate too.

What makes what we do special is that it’s all relationship-based. We focus on creating win-win deals helping homeowners, investors, and students all move forward. Through our mentorship program, Rehab With Ehab Academy, I’ve had the chance to guide others to their first deal and watch them completely change their financial path.

Ehab built an incredible education center in Houston called OneSpace, and I’m now partnering with him to help fill it with the right energy through classes, workshops, and community events that bring investors, industry experts, and entrepreneurs together. It’s more than just a space, it’s becoming a hub for people who want to grow, connect, and build something lasting.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
The people who taught me the most about work are my parents. They showed me what consistency, discipline, and pride in your work really looks like. They aren’t the type to talk about it much, but I learned by watching them show up every day and do what needed to be done, no excuses. That example stuck with me and shaped how I approach both business and life.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
I went through a bitter divorce in 2011/2012. During that valley in my life, I leaned heavily on God and the people that God put in my path to uplift me and help me along the way. At that time, I took up running and exercising as a way to keep my mind on positive changes and also to work on myself as a person. That path ultimately led me to meeting my future wife which then led us to real estate investing and building a lasting legacy.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would probably say that what matters most to me is family, personal growth, and making a difference in people’s lives. I care deeply about creating something lasting that my kids and future generations can be proud of. I’m big on helping others see what’s possible for them, whether it’s through real estate, mentorship, or just being there when they need support. At the end of the day, what drives me is knowing that the work I do and the way I show up can help others change their story too.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
I believe what would remain is the memory of how I made people feel. How I inspired my children, friends, and partners to strive for more. To do more. To be better. What we own, what’s in the bank, investments, we can’t take any of that with us when we pass. What remains is your legacy.
