We’re looking forward to introducing you to Amp Trop. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Amp , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Wake up pray write down 3 things I’m grateful for then work out or stretch
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Amp Trop, a rap artist originally from St. Louis now based in Houston, where the grind never stops — unless I’m at the gym or in the studio, then it actually speeds up. I run my own music label and have been carving out my lane by blending feel-good vibes with real-life storytelling. My brand is all about turning life’s hustle into art you can feel.
Right now, I’m gearing up to drop my EP Sorry I Was Hustling at the end of August, and I’m also cooking up a mixtape with DJ Hollygrove called Hustlemania Vol. 1 (314-713) — think of it as a collision between my St. Louis roots and Houston energy. What makes my work unique is I’m not just rapping to rap; I’m building a legacy, one bar and one move at a time. Plus, I’m living proof that strangers can sometimes support you more than people you’ve known your whole life — and I think that’s special in itself.”*
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I always felt like the best , I always felt I looked the best , I felt I was the smartest the most handsome the strongest , I always had high confidence in myself as a child . I even used to speak in front of 300 member churches and whole schools .
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
When Adam “street money” passed away I honestly gave up on music.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes I’m even more vulgar and disrespectful behind closed doors lol . I’m more chill in public ion like doing too much
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I’d stop procrastinating on smoking so much , when I’m high I like to chill and the way my life setup I’m always on the go lately so I don’t have time to be chilling .
