We recently had the chance to connect with Legaci and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Legaci, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
Longevity is the first thing that came to mind. I want to inspire others to chase what seems or feels impossible.
There has been many moments that have felt impossible, but here I am. Still chasing and pushing.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m an artist out of Houston, TX and I go by Legaci. I’m 26, dad of a 3 year old girl and I’ve been making music since I was 13. I created this hub of creatives or brand called Celestial Records with the team that has really helped me build over the past 2 years. We strive to create a space for all sorts of creatives. I’ve been building a universe of my own with my team for the past year and we’re releasing a project titled Dawn Of The Starfield very soon.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Definitely my team. I think they believed in me more at times than I have ever believed in myself. Its almost this imposter syndrome kind of deal but part of me knows I’ll always be that way. When the mic is off, I’m at home, I’m just a dad. I’m just me.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Patience, grant it I know success can teach us patience but I feel suffering or failing has been the biggest teacher I’ve ever had. Struggling as a family growing up financially and dealing with my own issues growing up, anxiety, etc. There was many times it felt hopeless, but being resilient and ultimately hungry for it all, it over powered any doubts or struggles I faced.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Hell yeah, can I curse on here? if so, hell yeah. I’m me all the way through and I think that’s the biggest super power. I’m not putting on this persona, or trying to be someone I’m not and you either rock with it or you don’t.
I’m a nerd man. I love comics, I love video games and the whole geek culture. All of this inspiration I find in that I bring to my music. I was heavily inspired by the album The Incredible True Story by Logic, and luckily my team was too. On the microphone you have to think your the best of the best, etc. but I’m still me.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
He lived life how he wanted. He stayed true to himself always, and wasn’t afraid to chase what he wanted even when the world told him no.
