An Inspired Chat with Robert Mason III

Robert Mason III shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Robert, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Most of my mornings start with a little alone time. I like to use that time to think about the day ahead; what I need to get done and how I want the day to go. Sometimes I’ll play a little music and just relax while I mentally plan things out before everything gets busy. It gives me a moment to slow down, clear my head, and get organized before stepping into the responsibilities of the day. It’s a simple routine, but it helps me start the day calm, focused, and intentional instead of rushing straight into things.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Robert Mason, a mental health clinician and the owner of Kulture Kollective, a clothing brand that raises awareness about mental health. I started it because I love fashion and wanted to use it to break the stigma around mental health. The brand is personal to me, as I’ve dealt with struggles like imposter syndrome, depression, and the loss of family members. Right now, I’m focused on collaborations and marketing to grow the brand and get the message out to more people.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed I wasn’t capable of doing great things and that I wasn’t good enough. I often doubted myself and held back from opportunities because I didn’t think I measured up. Over time, I realized that my value isn’t determined by others’ standards or expectations, and that I have the ability to create my own path. Now, I focus on embracing my unique journey, trusting in my own skills and vision, and taking steps toward the goals that matter most to me. This perspective has shaped how I approach my brand, my creative projects, and the opportunities I choose to pursue today, reminding me that growth and success come from persistence and self-belief.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that has held me back the most is not feeling good enough. It’s stopped me from fully going after opportunities in acting, modeling, and even growing my clothing brand. I’m still learning to push past that fear while working toward my goal of becoming a therapist. It’s a process, but I’m committed to taking steps forward despite the doubt.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Kulture Kollective is a project I’m committed to continuing no matter what, because it’s about more than just clothing; it’s about raising awareness and creating conversations around mental health. The brand reflects a part of me and my journey, and I want it to inspire others to think openly about their own mental health. Beyond my work with the brand, I truly believe that we, as individuals, have the power to make meaningful changes in our lives if we’re willing to put in the time and effort. Life doesn’t change overnight, but step by step, we can make small, foundational changes that add up to real growth and improvement. That mindset guides both my work with Kulture Kollective and the way I approach my personal journey, reminding me that patience, persistence, and self-awareness can create lasting impact.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
I think I would regret not fully pursuing my dreams in acting and modeling. There were opportunities I didn’t take. Casting calls I didn’t answer simply because I was scared I wouldn’t be good enough or that I would fail. I don’t want fear to hold me back from exploring what I’m capable of, so I’m learning to take those chances and step into opportunities even when I feel uncertain.
