An Inspired Chat with Shayla Arceneaux

Shayla Arceneaux shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Shayla , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My day usually starts between 4:30 and 5:00 am. I have Lagree training for about 45 minutes, along with some warm lemon water, before eating breakfast. I normally read a Bible verse and try to pray, all before 8 am! This gets my mind set for the day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Shayla Arceneaux, and I have been a Physician Associate (PA) specializing in Dermatology for 12 years. I am passionate about my work because I personally experience many skin conditions, which allows me to understand the daily struggles my patients face. I have three little boys who mean everything to me. Faith and family are my priorities!

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My mother!

I saw that woman raise us and still show up for work every single day! I swear she gave birth to my brother and me and immediately went back to work! Both of my parents were incredibly hardworking. My dad drove to NASA every day for over 20 years, which was an hour from our house, even before a toll road was established. He worked both nights and days to provide for our family!

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
**Divorce!**

I went through an incredibly painful divorce. Although we are now better at co-parenting, back then I felt like a failure. I do not come from a divorced background; my parents are still married, and my aunts, uncles, and grandparents have all managed to stay married. So, having small children and experiencing a failed marriage affected me for quite some time.

With the help of proper therapy, my faith, and the support of my family and friends, I was able to heal from that moment in my life and turn things around for the better!

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Loyalty, family and support!

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would put down my phone and work less, ensuring that I spend as much time as possible with my children. It’s important to me that they know how much I value and love them, as well as how essential it is for them to grow up as men of God.

I would make it a priority to get right with Christ by any means necessary, removing any negativity that is associated with me.

I would challenge myself to try new things and explore new experiences by taking more trips and no more postponing things until tomorrow, knowing that my time is limited.
