Susan, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Who are you learning from right now?
AC Ramos is a high-profile figure in the real estate investment arena, and he and I have recently joined forces. I am learning so much from him. I am glad that circumstances brought us to work together. He has been a real blessing to me.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Susan Casias. My company is The Property Energizer. I have flipped and wholesaled real estate for the last 9 years. I have worked with over 200 homeowners in the last 9 years. The primary focus of my business is to assist individuals facing foreclosure. Many of them are living above their means and, on average, have not been able to pay their mortgage for 2 to 5 years. Most of them have not been able to care for the property and the house is in serious disarray. We buy houses cash, as is and help relocate the family. We cover the costs of boxes, packers, movers, and the deposit, plus the first month’s rent, in addition to the proceeds from the sale of their property. We strive for a win-win on every deal.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My husband has had the most influence on me. We’ll be celebrating 27 years of marriage this November. He has unconditionally loved and supported me and is excellent at seeing those things that I am unable to see.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
About a year and a half ago, I decided to go out on my own and develop my own team of reps. I let my previous business partner oppress me, and once I saw how this was my fault, I was empowered to become independent. Since then, the Good Lord has put the most wonderful people in my path and I have a more fulfilling daily experience.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
What you see is what you get with me. I am a very transparent person and I like to lead by example.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Most people lack faith in themselves and we become deeply flawed and lack forgiveness for ourselves and each other. His will is love & mercy. That’s easy to say and a challenge to accomplish.
