We’re looking forward to introducing you to Susie Star. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Susie, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me starts with stillness. Before I even touch my phone, I take a few minutes to breathe, meditate, and ground myself. It’s how I center my energy before the world starts calling. Then I’ll make a cup of tea, light a candle, and set my intentions for the day.
Once I’m aligned, I check my messages, emails, and social media, my little window into the world. I usually plan content or upload videos that spread insight, humor, and healing. Some days I work from home doing readings or marketing; other days, I’m at my office working at my other business.
Throughout the day, I balance business and spirit, meetings, client sessions, creative planning for Team Star, and the occasional spontaneous tarot pull for myself. By evening, I slow things down, cook a good meal, reflect on what went well, and write down a few moments of gratitude.
When the workday ends, I’ll unwind with a movie or scroll through social media like everyone else, laughing, learning, and connecting. Then it’s lights out with a grateful heart, ready to start again. My days are a blend of magic and ordinary life and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Susie Star, a psychic, tarot reader, Reiki Master, and spiritual healer based in Houston, TX. I’ve been walking this path for over a decade, helping people find clarity, healing, and direction through tarot, Reiki, and intuitive guidance.
What makes my work unique is that I blend authenticity, compassion, and a little bit of fun into everything I do. A session with me isn’t about fortune-telling, it’s about connection. It’s about peeling back the layers, finding the truth beneath the surface, and leaving you feeling lighter, clearer, and more empowered. Sometimes we laugh, sometimes we cry, but it’s always real.
My brand, Susie Star Psychic and Tarot Reader, has grown into more than just me. I’ve been blessed to build Team Star, a collective of mystical practitioners including a runes readier and, most recently, our astrologer. Together, we bring a range of tools and traditions to festivals, wellness expos, and fairs across Houston, Conroe, Galveston, and beyond.
Right now, I’m focused on growing our presence at major events, connecting with new communities, and continuing to build my reputation as a trusted and reputable psychic. At the heart of it, my mission is simple: to help people feel seen, supported, and inspired. Whether it’s through a tarot card, a Reiki session, or a heartfelt conversation, my goal is always to remind people that they already carry the magic within them. I just help shine a little light on it.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Bonds between people break when trust is lost, when communication fades, or when fear and ego take the driver’s seat. Sometimes it’s not even something dramatic it can just be the slow drift of disconnection, when people stop truly seeing and hearing each other. I believe pain, misunderstandings, and unhealed wounds can build walls where there used to be bridges.
But bonds can be restored through honesty, vulnerability, and love. It’s when we put down our armor and show up raw and real. Sometimes it’s as simple as listening without judgment, sometimes it’s forgiveness, and other times it’s choosing to rebuild even when it feels scary. Healing practices like Reiki, tarot, or spiritual guidance can help bring people back to that place of clarity and openness, but ultimately it’s the willingness of both souls to meet again that restores the connection.
At the heart of it: bonds break when we forget our shared humanity, and they heal when we remember it.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
For a long time, I hid my pain because I thought it made me weak. My childhood was marked by abandonment, abuse, and the feeling of never being good enough. My father wasn’t there, I grew up being beaten and assaulted, and later I found myself in toxic relationships with narcissists. On top of that, I experienced deep losses with people I loved passing away. It felt like life kept piling on reasons to believe I wasn’t worthy.
But somewhere along the way, I realized that hiding my pain only gave it more power over me. The turning point came when I started using my story to connect with others. When I saw that by being honest about my wounds, I was able to help someone else feel less alone. That’s when everything shifted.
I stopped looking at my pain as a curse and started seeing it as my fuel. Every heartbreak, every betrayal, every scar made me stronger, more compassionate, and more unstoppable. Now, when I sit with a client, I don’t just read their cards or channel Reiki, I understand their hurt, because I’ve lived it. And I can help guide them toward healing, because I’ve found my own way through the darkness.
So to me, my pain became my power the moment I stopped asking, “Why me?” and started saying, “Watch me.”
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
For a long time, I held onto the belief that if I just loved someone enough, I could change them. I thought that by pouring everything I had into a person, my time, my energy, my heart. I could somehow make them see the world the way I did, or heal the parts of them they weren’t ready to face.
But I was wrong. What I learned, often the hard way, is that you can’t save someone who isn’t ready to save themselves. In giving so much of myself away, I lost sight of who I was. I confused sacrifice with love, and in the process, I drained myself trying to fill others.
The shift came when I realized that real love isn’t about fixing people. It’s about respecting them, supporting them, and also respecting your own boundaries. Now I know that the greatest gift I can give isn’t to lose myself in someone else’s healing, but to stand strong in my own light so I can guide them without dimming who I am.
So yes, that old belief was naive, but letting it go has been one of the most empowering lessons of my life. Today, I know that my role is not to change others, it’s to inspire them to change themselves when they’re ready.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When I’m gone, I hope people remember my light. How I made them feel seen, heard, and loved. I hope they tell stories of my compassion and generosity, of how I cried alongside them when they were hurting, and how I celebrated with them when they were healing.
I don’t want to be remembered for being perfect; I want to be remembered for being real. For being humble and non-judgmental, for lighting up a room with warmth and charisma, and for creating a space where people could open up without fear. My purpose has always been to serve, to awaken souls to higher consciousness, and to unify us through love.
Even if I only touched a small number of lives, I hope the impact was deep and lasting, that those I helped carry that light forward into their own lives, creating ripples that reach far beyond what I could ever see. At the end of the day, if the story told about me is that I left people better than I found them, then I’ll know I fulfilled my purpose. That is my legacy.
