Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Duncan of Jenna Duncan Photography.
Jenna Duncan, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Hi! Thank you! It’s been a fun journey so far. Art has been an important part of my life since I was a little girl. I studied photography and arts in college but it wasn’t until I’d spent several years working full-time in the banking industry that I decided to pursue my love for art and photography as a career about six years ago. I spent the first couple of years studying, practicing and further developing my artistry in photography before I began accepting clients. It was and still is important to me to provide only the best for my clients at Jenna Duncan Photography!
There were plenty of challenges along the way, but I’m so happy that I have now been able to build a successful business with Jenna Duncan Photography. I absolutely love my job and my clients! I’m grateful I pursued my passion and for the support and encouragement I have received from my husband, family and my amazing clients throughout this journey!
My husband and I have a sweet little toddler now and it’s been really fun getting to balance my time between play dates with him and capturing amazing portraits for couples, families, kids and High School Seniors all over Houston! I’m grateful for the opportunity to create beautiful, fun and lasting memories for each of my clients at Jenna Duncan Photography.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a natural light, portrait photographer. At Jenna Duncan Photography, I photograph couples, families, children and High School Seniors in the beauty of the outdoors.
I enjoy getting to know my clients a bit before their shoot and capturing their own personalities, dynamics and beauty in portrait! From location ideas to advice on what to wear, I’m here to assure that my clients and their loved ones feel comfortable and natural in front of the camera. I believe a good photo session has the power to pause ones busy life and display all the beauty that is within it! Doing just this is my goal and my gift!
How do you think about success, as an artist, and what quality do you feel is most helpful?
To me, success is being able to pursue what I love with passion and bringing joy to my clients through their photos all while having the support of my husband and son!
Passion, perseverance and integrity are definitely helpful and important qualities for an artist and a business owner. Patience with yourself in the process along with hard work, perseverance and a positive attitude go along way. As an artist, it’s important to take the time to study and practice our skill and also remember to have fun along the way! Rather than beating ourselves up if or when we hit bumps in the road, we have to use each challenge as an opportunity for growth. We can’t let challenges take the joy out of the process!
There have been a few bumps along the way in building Jenna Duncan Photography, but I’m grateful for how each one has taught and pushed me to become a better and more successful photographer and business owner.
