Art & Life with Rico Francis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rico Francis.

Rico, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
A graduate of the University of Houston. I was born and raised in Louisiana. I am the last of seventeen children and a father of one, soon-to-be two boys. I wasn’t fortunate to grow up wealthy or anything like that but I did grow up rich in spirit. I was fortunate to grow up in a harsh yet fruitful reality. I chose the road less traveled and stuck to my education. Hard work and dedication is what I believe in. I strive to be a better man each day that I wake up.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a photographer and videographer. My process is simple, collaborative, and progressive. I approach every shoot or event with an open-mind and respect for the arts. I like things to look real or as natural as possible. I tend to do various types of photography but I really love fashion, glamour, & vixen photography. My message is to people, especially upcoming artists, is to make art that you love and are willing to stand behind. Avoid trends that go against who you are as an artist. Make the name through the art and the rest will follow.

Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
My advice to artists is to be receptive to constructive criticism, do not be afraid to evolve, and to trust their creativity. It will not let you down. I wished earlier that I would not have lacked confidence. I struggled early on by trying to make my work fit into categories or by trying to emulate things that people liked. I fell victim to it. However, I corrected it by reading, researching and learning new ways to execute. Oh, and prayer, cannot forget about prayer!

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
My website is currently under construction so as of now my work is primarily on social media i.e. Facebook (R. Francis Photography & 3Peat Productions), Instagram (@rfrancisphoto & @3peatproductions), & YouTube (3Peat Productions). People can support my work by simply sharing, commenting, liking etc. any of my work. Everything is greatly appreciated.
