Blaine Johnson on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Blaine Johnson shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Blaine, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
5AM – Prayer/Read
6AM – Daily Agenda, Emails, Lead Response
7-30AM to 930AM – GYM

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, my name is Coach Blaine Johnson, and I’m the founder of Protégé Athletics.

At Protégé Athletics, we specialize in high-level baseball and softball training tailored to each athlete’s individual goals and development needs. Since 2015, we’ve been committed to helping young athletes reach their fullest potential through structured, purposeful instruction.

What sets us apart is our ability to build meaningful connections with our athletes—creating a trusted environment that fosters growth, confidence, and long-term success.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
Growing up, I watched both my mother and father hustle day in and day out to provide for our family. From entrepreneurship to pharmacy tech work, and even long-distance truck driving, they did whatever it took to make ends meet. Without even knowing it, they instilled in me a relentless drive and work ethic—one that continues to fuel my passion for success and excellence in everything I do.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Start sooner and take things more seriously.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
My wife’s, she’s helped me alot through this process of growing my business and as a person. With her being a former collegiate basketball player she always provides me a different perspective when it comes to sports and challenging my thought process.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I genuinely believe I’m walking in my purpose, there was a time where I was lost and had no guidance or direction in my life. For me that all changed when I found God and started including him into my life daily in everything I did. The person who you see today is not always who I was and I’m only where I’m at through prayer, discipline to my goals, obedience and not allowing distractions to sway me from my purpose too often.
