Check Out Allen Ware’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allen Ware.

Hi Allen, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I wanted to give back to the community through track because my high school coach saw something in me as a track athlete. What he taught me changed my circumstances and I was able to go to college based on my track ability and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry.

Later as a father, I signed my youngest up to run track and saw that the coach, Reginald Taylor of the Texas Cyclones, needed help. That was 2011 and now it is 2025 and I have coached many athletes with about 9 of them All-Americans in cross country and approximately 37 becoming All-Americans in track. Some, even multiple times. And many of those All-Americans and others have moved onto college using track to help fund their college experience.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has been fun! Most of the athletes enjoy their experience with us. You have to be a special person to run track because it is so difficult, but they seem to find joy. I think it is how we present it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am now retired but in my professional life I was a chemist and later an environmental engineer. I was a chemist from 1984 to 2007 and an environmental engineer from 2007 to 2020. During those years, I worked for British Petroleum from 1990 to 2020.

I was most proud of my ability to work with others. Although I am a numbers guy, a lot of my job, especially as an environmental engineer, relied upon others to help get data to me that I could use for calculations to make sure that we were in compliance with regulations. My chemistry background help me to communicate effeiciently with plant personnel, engineers, and regulators.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is living harmoniously with others and being an example of that to my track athletes. We train athletes from ages 6 to 18 years of age. Our team is very diverse and it is such a wonderful sight to see the kids working together. I try to let each know how important they are and I interact with them differently and respect their individuality.
