Check Out Jocelyne Guzman’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jocelyne Guzman.

Hi Jocelyne, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my makeup artistry journey in 2020 when I created Tilaglams out of a genuine love for beauty and helping people feel confident. What began as doing makeup for friends, family, and special occasions gradually grew into working with brides, bridal parties, quinceañeras, and clients throughout the Houston area.

Over the years, I’ve continued developing my artistry while also gaining experience in luxury beauty retail, working with brands such as Charlotte Tilbury and Dior. Those experiences have helped me strengthen not only my makeup skills, but also my knowledge of skincare, luxury service, client relationships, and the beauty industry as a whole.

My work has also been featured in The Princess Magazine and Voyage Houston, which encouraged me to continue taking my business and creative work more seriously. Today, I’m focused on growing Tilaglams, expanding my clientele, creating beauty content, and continuing to build a career that allows me to express my creativity while making people feel beautiful and confident.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been balancing building my own business while working full-time in the beauty industry. There have been seasons where I’ve had to slow down, rebuild my kit, rethink my pricing, improve how I market myself, and figure out how to consistently attract the right clients.

Another challenge has been learning not to compare my journey to other artists, especially in an industry that is so heavily influenced by social media. It can be easy to feel like you should be growing faster, booking more, or constantly creating content. Over time, I’ve learned to focus more on improving my craft, creating a great experience for my clients, and building something that feels authentic to me.

Those challenges have actually helped me become more confident, disciplined, and intentional about where I want to take Tilaglams next.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Houston-based makeup artist and the founder of Tilaglams, specializing in soft glam, full glam, bridal, quinceañera, and special event makeup. My goal with every client is to enhance their features in a way that still makes them feel like themselves—just more polished, confident, and camera-ready.

I’m especially proud of how much my artistry has evolved over the years and the trust I’ve built with clients for some of their most important moments. I’ve had the opportunity to work with bridal parties, special events, and a variety of different skin tones, features, and personal styles, which has pushed me to become a more adaptable artist.

What sets me apart is the combination of artistry and client experience. My background in luxury beauty has given me a strong understanding of complexion, skincare, product selection, and personalized service. I really take the time to listen to what each client wants rather than giving everyone the same look. For me, makeup isn’t about changing someone—it’s about helping them see themselves at their best.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Some of my favorite childhood memories are the summers I spent with my family. I’m a summer baby, so that time of year has always felt especially meaningful to me. I loved being able to celebrate my birthday at home or in Mexico surrounded by family, and I have so many happy memories from those trips. I also remember spending summers going to Splashtown with my family through my dad’s job. Looking back, I think what made those summers so special was simply being together and creating memories with the people I love most.
