Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristi Miller.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I practiced Interior Design and Architecture for many years, and finally realized I was tired of working for other people and corporate America. I started planning and researching on how to start a small business and what brands I would need to reach out too, that I knew were brands that I would want to carry. The first year was definitely a struggle with lots of learning, lots of change and a lot of making mistakes. The 2nd year was better and moved much more smoothly. I am definitely still learning, but the stress levels have come down!! 🙂
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As previously stated, It has been a struggle, but a very rewarding struggle. There have been a lot of ups and downs, but I have learned so much in all of this. Some have been huge, hard lessons, but mostly just learning the business and making great relationships with my clothing reps/brands, and my clients! I have also created great relationships with other retail shops and small businesses. I have learned a lot from them and am so thankful for their recommendations, opinions and help.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I believe that LBG is known for being a welcoming spot for women to come and hang out, try on clothes and have a nice afternoon with friends and/or family. LadyBird & Grace has been such a rewarding and happy place for myself. I am proud of what I have done so far, but have so many other plans for where we are headed. I am so thankful for our community and all the people that come and support my shop. I don’t have enough words to say thank you!
LadyBird & Grace specializes in everyday clothing options. We have a lot of great brands that are American made and women owned. I, personally, love denim and make it a priority to buy great denim brands that last for years and that you reach for often to wear. Our large offering includes shorts and jeans, as well as denim jackets, dresses, etc.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I sometimes feel like I fall more into being an introvert than an extrovert….I prefer smaller crowds, meetings, outings and get-togethers for the most part. I love being by myself and having no schedule. But also love New York and busy cities with a lot going on at all times.
