Today we’d like to introduce you to Minyette Young.
Hi Minyette, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey Sis, It’s Me Again was birthed during one of the most difficult seasons of my life. After going through a separation and preparing for divorce, I found myself in a very hurt and broken place. I struggled with depression, self-doubt, and constantly beating myself up while trying to figure out how to rebuild my life.
During that season, I made the decision to pray, seek God, and intentionally begin rebuilding myself. I started focusing on moving forward and stepping into my “next,” and that’s where my journal was born.
Hey Sis, It’s Me Again is a self-healing and encouragement journal created to remind women that they can keep going, even when life feels overwhelming. The simple quotes throughout the journal are words I would speak to myself each morning as I worked to motivate myself, rebuild my confidence, and move forward.
What started as something I created for myself became something I wanted to share with other women who may have experienced heartbreak, disappointment, loss, or seasons where they had to start over.
My hope is that my story and my journal remind women that their current situation does not have to be their final chapter. You can rebuild. You can start again. You can move forward. And most importantly, you can experience what God’s grace looks like when you trust Him through the process.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not been a smooth road. The road has been very rocky, challenging, and at times, difficult to navigate, but it has also been incredibly worth it.
One of my biggest struggles was battling severe depression and trying to overcome the habit of constantly beating myself up over decisions I had made that weren’t always right. I also experienced embarrassment and shame surrounding some of those decisions, especially when it came to my family and friends. There were moments when I questioned myself, my choices, and how I would move forward.
But through every difficult season, I learned something about myself. I learned to give myself grace, take accountability, grow from my experiences, and trust God through the process.
So, no, my road has not been smooth. It has been rocky, messy, and filled with lessons, but every step has shaped who I am today. And if I had to do it all over again, I would still choose the journey, because it was absolutely worth it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a District Manager in a large corporation, where I have the opportunity to lead and develop people across multiple areas of the business. My role involves managing teams, driving business results, developing talent, and ensuring that the people I lead have the tools and support they need to be successful.
What I enjoy most about my career is the opportunity to encourage and motivate others. I genuinely enjoy helping people grow, reach their personal and professional goals, and become the best version of themselves. I’m also passionate about sharing the knowledge and experience I’ve gained throughout my career while remaining open to learning from the people I lead.
At the heart of what I do every day is leadership. Whether I’m coaching a manager, developing a team member, solving a business challenge, or celebrating someone’s success, my goal is always to make an impact.
For me, leadership is more than a title. It’s about developing people, creating opportunities, and helping others see that they are capable of achieving more than they may believe.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Absolutely. I believe finding a mentor should align with your personal and professional goals. A mentor should be someone who has demonstrated qualities, skills, or experiences that you want to develop within yourself.
Throughout my career, I’ve intentionally chosen mentors who had something I felt I lacked, who were in positions I wanted to grow into, or who possessed qualities I could see myself developing in the future. I wanted to learn from people who could challenge me, teach me, and help me become better.
When it comes to business, I believe the same principle applies. If you’re looking to enter a particular industry or build a certain type of business, find someone who has not only been in that space but has been successful in it. There is so much value in learning from someone who has already experienced the journey you’re preparing to take.
Ultimately, a mentor should be someone you genuinely want to gain knowledge from and someone who can help develop you into the person you’re working toward becoming. Be intentional about who you allow to speak into your life, because the right mentor can help you see possibilities in yourself that you may not have seen yet.
