Today we’d like to introduce you to Nate The Great.
Nate, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hello there! My name is Naquan Brown but you may also know me by my stage name Nate the Great. I’m 28 years old, I originate and I was born in raised in a small peninsula between borderline Long Island and the deep end of Queens called Far Rockaway. I started my journey in music around 2014 when I did my first recording in the studio at the Queens Library for Teens which was my usual spot to go to after school. It was a surreal experience but it was incredibly motivating to me as someone who was just beginning their path then. Originally before I began writing songs, I was a poet. I was highly influenced by literature when I was attending middle school and high school. Then 2018 came around and that’s when I began producing my own music.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It wasn’t always easy. That I can admit for sure. I dealt with criticism, some friends who were non believers, self doubt, bullying & insecurities. But as the time passed. I was able to overcome and use those things as fuel to become better and more obsessed with perfecting my craft.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a rapper, singer, songwriter & producer. I’m known for not only being a relatable & introspective lyricist but I’m also versatile when it comes to my sound and production. What I’m most proud of is having the wherewithal to go after this passion of mine that saved & changed my life and that I’ve been in love with since I was an adolescent.
How do you think about happiness?
Waking up. The moment I open my eyes and then staring into my reflection, I see possibility & evolution.
