Hi Paul, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Cystic (Paul Tapper) is an independent Hip-Hop artist hailing from the Gulf Coast of Mississippi.
Born with a terminal illness known as Cystic Fibrosis, which sets him up with a very unique set of issues compared to others. Medical experiences and other factors that are shown in the music show the versatility in Cystic’s subject matter.
Cystic make’s music to impact, expand the mind, and provoke emotion. To connect with people that feel alone in a room full of people. To push the boundaries of art. To inspire, motivate, and create, yet remain the truest version of himself, unapologetically, a vessel, whether through controversy or with love.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Cystic Fibrosis, harsh family dynamics, poverty, drugs and violence.
Cystic’s life has overcome adversity after adversity, one of his brother’s went to prison, his father was mostly absent, and he was very isolated throughout most of his life despite living through negative environments.
suffered abuse throughout his school years, would engage in fights. on top of intense health issues due to his Cystic Fibrosis. many near death experiences as a result from the diseases growing up, constantly in and out of the hospital.

i am Rapper that loves its art and culture more than life itself, i blend genre’s and different forms of art/sound to make something truly unique to what is “Cystic”.
my artistry is represented in my motto and my supporters mantra “purpose prevails through all things”
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
find your community. get online, meet people in person, engage with people ultimately. find your family by being family first.
whatever you put in, the universe will put out towards you.
