Today we’d like to introduce you to Rossina Boyer
Rossina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hi, my name is Rossina. Welcome to my world of colors. It all started a long time ago when I was 11 years old when I felt in love with art in school. I was born in Peru and at the age of 16 I immigrated to the USA. Houston was my home for 17 years until almost 5 years ago I moved to the Rocket City of Huntsville. I go back and forth between Houston and Huntsville to do commission works, art Shows and painting workshops.
In 2020, I published my first children’s book with great success and dedication. “Please, I want to see papa again” “Por favor, quiero ver a papa otra vez” is a bilingual book based on my family’s immigration story. A moving story that I feel very proud and happy to share with you.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Choosing this path has not only brought immense joy and fulfillment but has also positively affected my health. I’ve noticed a remarkable improvement in how I feel both physically and emotionally. Art has become a powerful outlet for me, allowing me to express myself and find a sense of peace and purpose. This journey has been tremendously rewarding, and I’m incredibly grateful that I decided to pursue my passion for painting full-time.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Many ask what inspires me and to be honest, inspiration usually finds me without me looking for it. It is everywhere and surrounds me. It is the people, their stories, distant places, a landscape, a flower, the deep sea, a country, its culture, moments of happiness and so on. All of these serves as inspiration to create paintings that reflect who I am and what I am trying to tell. Every painting has its own story.
When I blend colors, I feel that I am breathing. I usually try not think or analyze so much what I am doing. I let myself go. Sometimes, I get lost half way but the canvas and I find our way in the end. The results can be amazing. My paintings revives homes and brings joy to families and that for me is enough.
Biography:
Rossina is originally from coastal Northern Peru, where as a child she was instilled with an appreciation of cultural fusions. This has manifested itself in a blurred lines trifecta of painter, writer, and dancer. Each loan to, and borrow from, the next to deliver an alluring story to the audience.
In 2022, Rossina was invited by the Huntsville Hospital Foundation to solo exhibit as part of the Arts in Medicine program. Earlier that year, she was also selected as a Voice of Huntsville by The Scout Guide of Huntsville, AL. She has been accepted to several art festivals, including Panoply and Montesano Art Fest. Her work is currently being displayed in private art collections like The Von Braun Center and galleries across the country. Finally, Rossina has been featured on several TV programs and magazines discussing her art and doing live event paintings.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is the ability to express my innermost feelings and visions through painting. For me, painting is more than just a profession—it’s a way to convey what I see within myself onto canvas using colors and textures. This form of self-expression is incredibly fulfilling, and sharing these pieces with others by bringing them into their homes is immensely rewarding. Seeing my art resonate with people and evoke emotions makes the entire process deeply meaningful to me.
