Chelsea Fedigan of South Padre Island on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Chelsea Fedigan shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Chelsea , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My day usually starts with dog snuggles, coffee, and a walk on the beach with my dogs. I especially love making in time to watch the sunrise. Perfect way to start the day!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’’m a pop artist painter that specializes in pet portraits. My dogs and cat are my muses. They are frequent subject matter from my canvases and photos to wearable art.

On a regular basis I paint custom pet portraits of peoples pets or in memory of their pet. I love being able to share my bright happy artwork to memorialize them. My favorite part is capturing the soul in their eyes.

I’ve lived near the beach the majority of my life. I’’m very inspired by everything around me especially the colors of nature.

I especially like painting in large scale and recently completed a mural.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
It definitely had to be completing an art project. I was always doing art and DIY projects with my Mom growing up – including her being my Girl Scout leader at some point!

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Being sensitive isn’t a quality to be ashamed of .

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My loved ones, my pets, my art, and more recently baking!

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
Painting while it rains, music playing, and my pets by my side
or
Walking barefoot on beach with my dogs listening to music
