Community Highlights: Meet Dominique Side of Nikki Green

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Side.

Hi Dominique, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Dominique Side, and I am a serial entrepreneur based in Houston, TX. I’m also a mom to four incredible individuals and a handsome dog.

From the outside looking in, my entrepreneurial journey may seem rather eclectic. I’ve established several multi-million-dollar businesses in the Houston area. I’m the CEO of Surrogacy Escrow Account Management, Co-Founder of private alternative school Houston Sudbury School, and the owner of multiple vegan-centric brands, ranging from Houston’s first vegan supermarket, VegSide Mkt, to the founding of VgnBae Studios, a full-service vegan recording and production studio.

Constantly in motion and aspiring to the next level, I currently serve elite clientele through The Luxury Vegan, the leading concierge transition service for an eco-friendlier lifestyle. I’ve also recently launched the world’s first black-owned 100% vegan luxury fashion line, Nikki Green.

My aspirations have evolved with each new venture, but one common thread runs through all my businesses: each is based firmly on a foundation of compassion — for others, for myself and for the planet.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I first started out, I really sold myself short. I see that now. I knew my surrogacy escrow agency had growth potential when I brought on an agency client that more than tripled our accounts. I didn’t see myself owning the company but when I was offered the opportunity, I began to consider a different future for the company. Up until that point, I hadn’t been in a position to need employees. I was very much the “solopreneur”. I’d say the biggest mistake I made was not consulting an attorney when I took over the company to ensure my long-term interests were considered and accounted for.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My latest venture is the launch of my 100% vegan luxury fashion brand, Nikki Green. I’ve worked closely with my long-term stylist, Christian Allen, to conceptualize the collection, dreaming up textures, tones and elements that feel fresh and elevated.

The high-end vegan fashion line boasts a collection of runway-worthy women’s clothing including ready-to-wear gowns, tops, pants, denim, and accessories. Every step of the process, from design to production to packaging, is responsibly sourced and centered on compassion.

Each piece combines luxury earth-friendly materials, custom hardware, and figure-enhancing cuts for a new generation of chic, environmentally-conscious shoppers. Nikki Green is both opulent, sustainably sourced, and expertly combines compassionate living with high fashion.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Knowing I’ve made a difference in someone’s life sparks joy and defines success to me. I’m generally an optimistic person with a positive attitude. I’m trying new things at a stage in life that most people consider past your prime for similar activities. Who cares?? Most of the feedback I receive about the things I’m doing is that people are inspired. They are revisiting their dreams and changing their perspective on what’s possible. I love everything about that! Every step toward my goals makes me feel alive, especially when the people along the way are encouraged as well. When people ask me if I’m happy, I explain that happiness is circumstantial. But I have an immovable sense of joy and that’s what keeps me centered!
