Today we’d like to introduce you to Omar Arvizo.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Since I was a child, I’ve always been drawn to inspiring stories — especially the ones where people with very limited resources achieve extraordinary dreams, reaching places many would consider out of reach. I used to think that if those stories were real, they only happened to “chosen” people with special talents. I believed that someone ordinary like me had very little chance of ever accomplishing something great.
I came to this beautiful country at a very young age carrying only one dream: to succeed. I didn’t know where to start, I had no plan, not even a clear direction… I just knew I wanted to make it. And I wanted to show my family and my community that success is possible when you work hard, stay disciplined, and serve others. Over time, I learned that when you do that, the path begins to open on its own.
When I was 16, I started working with my uncle, who owned a painting company. He was excellent at his craft. I remember how homes looked before we started working on them, and how completely transformed they were when we finished. Watching that change was fascinating. But even more powerful was seeing the clients’ faces when they saw the transformation. That reaction lit something inside me — an idea, a dream.
I thought: “If paint alone can change an entire environment and create that kind of emotion, what would happen if we also changed the floors, the cabinets, the countertops? What if we moved lights, remodeled kitchens and bathrooms… or even built entire homes exactly the way clients envisioned them?”
That’s how an idea was born — an idea that grew into a dream… and that dream became what is now a thriving company: Arvizo Construction.
In the beginning, it was just me. I did everything with my own hands. I searched for clients who would let me paint their homes, inside or out. And those who trusted me soon began receiving an additional offer: new tile, new lighting, a bathroom remodel… I became “the guy to call.”
It wasn’t easy. People trusted me little by little, and for that I will always be grateful. I poured my heart into every single project. I didn’t just check the details — I studied them, corrected them, perfected them. I would walk around a jobsite over and over again, making sure every line was straight, every corner sharp, every finish flawless. I wanted clients to look at the work and feel the passion behind it. Sometimes I stayed late, sometimes I put in my own money — but I did it because I believed that excellence speaks louder than words.
My purpose was bigger than completing a job. I wanted people to talk about me in a positive way, to say, “This guy cares. This guy delivers.” I wanted to earn trust, not just business. I wanted clients to recommend me, to feel proud to say my name. And that commitment to doing things right — even when no one was watching — is what opened the doors that once seemed impossible.
Real growth came when I made one of the most important decisions of my life: delegating. Letting go of doing everything myself and hiring people to help. That gave me time to connect, network, search for opportunities, and reach more clients. That decision accelerated everything.
Today, Arvizo Construction doesn’t just paint homes.
We complete full kitchen and bathroom remodels, build home additions and extensions — one or two stories — and construct custom turn-key homes. From A to Z.
But we’ve grown far beyond that. Today we also build patios and porches, install pools, handle concrete work, roofing, framing, electrical, and so much more — all within the same company. We bring together licensed professionals, specialized crews, and true experts in every trade to deliver high-quality work under one roof. Our goal isn’t just to build structures… it’s to create spaces families love, trust, and feel proud to call home.
What began as a simple dream in the heart of a young man who just wanted to move forward… has become a strong company that transforms homes — and lives.
And if there’s one thing I’ve learned on this journey, it’s this:
Dreams don’t belong to the “chosen.”
Dreams belong to those who work, who believe, who persevere — and who dare to begin, even with limited resources.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of our biggest challenges was building a client base from the ground up. We started with no contacts, no history, and no referrals. Every new client was an opportunity, but also a test: we had to prove who we were through actions, not promises. There were doors that didn’t open right away and days when progress felt slower than we hoped. But we stayed consistent—delivering quality in every project, communicating clearly, and keeping our word. Little by little, referrals began to come in, and hearing clients speak highly of our work became one of the greatest rewards. That organic growth, earned through effort and character, became the foundation of our company.
Another major challenge was building a truly solid team. We didn’t just need people with technical skills—we needed individuals with responsibility, commitment, and a strong work ethic. Finding the right people wasn’t easy; there were moments of trial and error, of adjusting expectations, and of learning how to lead with patience. Over time, we identified those who shared our vision and values. And when we finally built a stable, professional, and reliable team, everything changed: quality improved, timelines became smoother, and our projects began to reflect the strength of a unified crew.
One of the most personal and profound challenges was balancing the business with our family life. When we began this dream, my wife and I were breaking ground while our children were still young. There were days when the exhaustion followed us home, nights filled with responsibilities, and important decisions waiting for us even after work hours. But we learned to support each other, to divide tasks, and to remember why we were doing all this—for our family, for their future, and for the example we hoped to set. Those years of sacrifice taught us organization, communication, and the importance of keeping our priorities in order, even in seasons of growth.
Looking back, each of these challenges not only tested us—they shaped us. They taught us resilience, patience, character, and the importance of staying true to our values. Because of them, today we have a company defined by integrity, responsibility, and quality. Every obstacle we overcame became a meaningful part of our story, and we are proud that our journey can inspire others who are also building their dreams from the ground up.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I grew up as a naturally curious child, always wanting to understand how things worked and what was behind every structure, tool, or detail. I didn’t need anyone to push me—my instinct was to observe, learn, and experiment on my own. From a young age, I was drawn to anything that could be imagined and created with my hands.
At the same time, I developed a deep appreciation for art, architecture, and the landscapes around me. Buildings, shapes, colors, and design always caught my attention. I could spend long moments imagining how a space could be transformed and how it would feel once brought to life. As a kid, I dreamed of studying architecture, but my family didn’t have the resources or a clear path to make that possible. Still, that dream never left me.
With time, I realized something important: life doesn’t always take you down the traditional path, but it still leads you to your purpose. Even though I couldn’t pursue an architecture degree, I found another way to fulfill that dream. Through hands-on work, design, and construction, I discovered a place where I could create, imagine, and transform. Every project became a canvas—a way to express the same inspiration I felt as a child. The beauty of a well-crafted space, the excitement of turning an idea into reality, and the satisfaction of building something that didn’t exist before all became part of my everyday life.
Looking back, I see that my childhood was the foundation for who I am today. Growing up with limited resources taught me creativity. Dreaming of architecture taught me vision. Loving art taught me sensitivity. And working with my hands taught me discipline and determination. That combination guides me in every project I build and every space I transform.
