Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Caveness.
Beth, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Our story essentially begins at 22 and 24 years old. Nick and I found ourselves desperate for God to save our twins. They had a condition called Twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. During that time, I made an audacious prayer — “Lord if you save their lives, I will serve you all the days of my life.” And He did. They are the first set of twins to ever survive in my family. And because God kept his side of the promise, I kept mine. Nick and I began pursuing the Lord and growing in faith. Throughout that journey, we discovered our identity in Christ and the power of a close, intimate relationship with God. We also discovered the leadership God created within us and the purpose of our lives. This process was accomplished through the reading of hundreds of books and countless teachings and courses. About 9 years ago, we came on staff at our church and began working with the staff to build a disciple-making movement that would awaken the children of God. This started by hosting lifegroups where we discipled and empowered people. This eventually led to us starting the CHASSM (Catalyst Houston Area School of Supernatural Ministry), a 2-year ministry training school whose mission is to reveal every student’s royal identity and to activate, empower and mobilize the supernatural in their life by teaching them how to live a life like Christ: a life of dwelling in God’s presence and completely yielded to His Spirit. We have celebrated 5 groups of graduates over the last 6 years.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In the CHASSM we use a phrase: “IT’S FUN AND EASY”. This phrase is often used when things do not FEEL fun and easy. LOL. Essentially meaning it is challenging but that doesn’t negate that Jesus’ yoke is easy and his burden is light. The building of the CHASSM was certainly challenging — but isn’t that true of anything of value. It requires sacrifice, determination and dedication for sure, but will forever and always be worth it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Nick and myself (Beth Caveness) are first and foremost the proud parents of 4 incredible human beings. We also are extraordinarily proud to be one another’s spouse. What a gift! We are also the campus pastors for Community Transformation church and the founders of the CHASSM. We specialize in demystifying spiritual things to make the practical, everyday living for the believer. We also specialize in helping people heal from the trauma of their past so that they can walk boldly into their future, help people understand who they are and whose they are so that they can operate from their most authentic self, and we help people discover what their purpose is and the work they feel called to do. We of course are most proud of the people we raise up. Because at the end of the day its not what you build that matters, but who you build. Leaving a lasting legacy is so very important to us. What sets us apart — our love for God and people that leads us to a give our entire lives to the mission.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Nick and I both were completely different than we are today. Nick was a shy and anxious kid. I was a protector of people (which often got me in trouble).
