Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda McMillan Stanley.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My love for photography began many years ago in high school when I was yearbook editor. I love being able to tell a story through my lens. We launched in 2010 and are still here 16 laters. In 2024 we moved into a 2500 square foot studio space in Downtown Rosenberg. It is perfect space inside and out. We also photograph all over Houston and the surrounding areas. Our primary focus is photographing high school seniors, families, corporate headshots and branding sessions with some sports teams sprinkled in there. We work with a lot of large Houston companies and initially work on location to take care of all of their corporate headshots. Then when a new employee gets added they just send them out to the studio.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the beginning when I started out it was hard to not have a studio space. We love having a home base. So I am so thankful we have a large studio where we can create whatever our client is looking for.
There is always a lot of photographers that come and go in this business. We feel like we are here for the duration and have figured out what it takes. We focus on not only creating beautiful dynamic images for our clients, but the entire experience. We also stay up to date constantly on the latest technology and continuing education.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work hard to customize every session so that no two sessions feel alike. I specialize in senior portraits, families, children, and headshots, and I put a lot of thought, time, and creativity into every person I photograph. My goal is for my work to stand out while, most importantly, making each client feel seen and celebrated.
With my seniors especially, I believe the experience is about so much more than taking beautiful photographs. If I can spend a couple of hours with them getting to know who they are, building them up, and helping them feel confident, then I feel like I’ve done something meaningful. We aren’t all supermodels, and we don’t have to be. We are all beautiful in our own way.
Not everyone is comfortable in front of a camera, and that’s okay. I take the time to get to know my clients, find out what they love, what makes them laugh, what they enjoy doing, and what makes them feel like themselves. When I understand those things, I can create images that capture more than just what they look like—I can capture who they truly are.
I want my clients, especially my seniors, to embrace exactly who they are. I want them to see the beauty in themselves and leave their session feeling a little more confident than when they arrived. My sessions are meant to be fun, relaxed, and genuine. I want you to feel comfortable enough to laugh, be yourself, and enjoy the experience.
At the end of the day, I’m not just looking for the perfect pose or the perfect picture. I’m looking for the beauty that is already there in every person I photograph.
And honestly, one of my favorite parts of what I do is that almost every time I finish a session, I feel like I’ve gained a friend.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I specialize in photographing high school seniors, families, and corporate headshots, creating a personalized experience for every client. Whether I’m capturing a senior’s personality and confidence, the genuine connection within a family, or a professional’s unique presence and personality, my goal is to make each session relaxed, comfortable, and authentic. I take the time to get to know the people in front of my camera so I can create images that look and feel like them—not just another posed photograph. I believe everyone has something special to share, and my job is to help bring that out and capture it in a way they’ll be proud of.
